How's it bruddah. Wanted to say thanks for this video. Seeing it, and the early morning glow before sunrise brought back memories to me. I'm born and raised on Oahu, living in our beach house @ Ehukai Beach/Pipeline in 1960. Surfing diving and spearfishing/deep sea fishing all my life. I had a dream to .ove to kona and be a commercial fisherman. I started spending each summer in kona starting in 1974, and shipped my car and 13 ft. Boston whaler over on young brought. I'd spend 3 months fishing and diving and doing what I love until school started again and I'd go back home to Oahu. By 1979, I moved to kona full time, and by the early to mid 80's I had the 9th Force 30 custom built in Hilo for me and made my dream a reality!! I typically went on 4-5 day and night long fishing trips, always down to south point and beyond to fish the rough trade winds exposed waters and did thisinto the late 90's. I lived the most incredible life of adventure and fishing on the big island and it was absolutely amazing!!! Used to love going to the Kailua pier, and cruising, especially in the old days when the charter boats all used to come to the pier in the afternoons and weigh thier catches of big ahi and huge marlin!! I am blessed to have been able to do what I loved and dreamed of from around 15 years old through well into my 30's!!!!! Thanks, this, especially the early morning sunrise, which I used to watch most mornings from my boat fishing in awesome places off the big island!!!!! I'm living back on Oahu now, and this just brought me back to those years long ago!!! Aloha D.L.

I really enjoyed your video. It's nice to watch an ole' school video of our home town. I like how you tap into our local community and represent. Every shot you took had taken me back in time growing up in Kona. Such fond memories. Especially the wall, where I use to catch a'ama, right around the pier, and all along the shoreline. Even the throw net spots in front of Kona Inn Makai. I like how you stop at our historical sights, like Hulihee Palace. Your video is what I call, "Real Local Kine" Vision of the local kamaaina life and recreations that surround us everywhere. Thank you so much for sharing your awesome video. Keep on inspiring all of us. Because, we are witnessing Kona today in 2024. Years from now, this video will become a historical one. Keep up the great work on your adventures archiving cherishable memories of everyday life in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Mahalo

Thank you for your support. I myself moved away and a lot has change to this Kona town. And for people that moved away like yourself can enjoy the place they grew up from afar through this platform or see the changes that have become. Once again thank you and Aloha🤙🏼

Oh how I miss Kona. So good to see Schools of Halalu going into the pier. I remember when my papa would take me fishing. And the huge schools of Akule or Halalu would darken the harbors. Such different times from then to now.

Yeah it was a sight to see the school of fish, definitely really exciting and most of the people fishing is just their way of killing time like my dad.
