Only fished the Ditch about 30 times. Love fishing the Ditch every time I'm on it. I will say I've never been here in May/June and never done the first run kings. Looks like you all had a great trip. As for the taste comparison - there isn't one. Nothing is going to taste or be better than a spring king salmon. Fat content on the springer is WAY higher than the sockem-in-the-eye. Just remember kids, color is not a flavor.

Agree with the taste 100%! That doesn’t discredit the taste of the red salmon but those spring kings are delicious. Currently planning my next trip!

I used to catch 30-45 lb kings from the gravel bar just below the hatchery and 50- 75 lb kings on the Kenai in the 80’s and 90’s! Not anymore! Sad.

@@G2GO_outdoors it will be hard to tell the difference, especially WA state. Can target kings in fresh or salt water. The Columbia River for kings is a must.
