Within seconds I had the intuition which lake you were on. Then your description and some further views confirmed it for me. I used to fish there over 30 years ago and I often heard that there were LMB in the bays. I think we only caught one once. What a beautiful lake. Thanks for the memories.

After eons of Eagles and Ospreys eating fish in clear water with mid day sunshine lighting them up, the fish have instinctually learned to stay deep. They hit top water in the early morning and late evening when they are not as vulnerable. The whacky worm or drop shot is the way to go in the bright middle of the day. Matt is always teaching me something I might have known, but it isn't in the front of my mind when I hit the water. Thanks again to the master fisherman.

What a beautiful lake! And those marvellous fights in that clear water, too! Awesome…I was puzzled when at first you didn’t mention largemouth among the species in that water. It seemed somewhat odd to me…but there they were! Also It would have been great to see some beautiful walleye or trout (American lake trout of the char family?) caught in that gorgeous scenery. Over here in Europe zander ( very similar to walleye) also prefer low light conditions. Also zander is a delicious fish. Encouraged by your videos I have purchased all the famous lures that you use, especially those by Savage Gear and this snake will be no exception. I can’t wait to get one! Its action is wonderful.
@DanKoning777 Жыл бұрын
The hits came as you paralleled the shore with long casts-when you went deep and threw at the shore the hits stopped. Later on, you started doing the same thing-that's when the hits began again. The most active fish were shallow, chasing/looking for baitfish, and paying less attention to you [jmo]. Great video. God bless. [edit]: What a beautiful lake-I hope you go back again e.g., fall monster bass and/or ice fishing walleyes/trout.

I live out west in the mountain states of the pacific north west. We have great fishing out here for most species of fish. Trout, steelhead and salmon are some of the most coveted species to fish for. Get yourself a good selection of rooster tails, mepps and panther martin spinners and you will be in a good position to catch trout. I shoot for small and large mouth bass, but during season I am full on steelhead and salmon all the way! They are the best fish in the world for eating next to sturgeon. Of course walleye are great to. Native trout are fantastic with the dark pink meat, but I don't fancy stocked trout much. Trout fishing is a lot of fun and they will give you a good fight especially on lighter gear. They like a lot of the same locations small inhabit, but not at the same time ha ha. Typically they are found in open clear water. There are many species of trout and you fish them each a little differently. That looks like lake trout country, so open water is your best bet.

I watch your videos from New Zealand - we don’t have any bass sadly but we do have some trout across both islands. I didn’t previously know much about bass, although through watching your videos I have learned a lot. I do though know something about trout and catch a few here. We both need to do an exchange where you come over to New Zealand and I could teach you about our trout and I come out to your neck of the woods to chase bass. Our lakes here in the South Island are not a million miles away from the scenic wonders in your videos. Many of the spots I fish across the South Island would be right at home for you though as I use a small kayak to pursue large trout. Tight lines and keep making those videos - it is winter here in New Zealand so good to see your hot days.
