@@jamesharrison2763 While city people may be the ones to scream at you, this restrictive access to water is indeed an England thing. You need explicit permission. But what id also point out is, its illegal to speed, its illegal to be drunk in public, its illegal to relieve yourself in a bush. As someone with absolutely no knowledge about this - what's the point of going fishing in the middle of a city in a crowded space like this where everyone's just trying to enjoy what little nature there is? Also wouldn't it destroy the lake if everyone and their grandmother started fishing just as you do, ie. you would overfish very quickly? I mean why not just got to the countryside or somewhere less crowded? Also isn't inner city lakes like this pretty polluted? If there's some public good in doing this i'm all ears, is it to promote everyone going fishing there or fishing in general? I'm all for public access, more nature, hate "karens" etc, but i seriously don't get the point of standing with a huge fishing rod in the middle of kids, parents, and people sailing around in a tiny lake - it's like you're looking for a confrontation.
@mcbudget7 ай бұрын
How many of these spots were truly “crowded”? Zero. It disrupted no one, these guys release every fish they catch (no “overfishing”), fishing is a great way to be in touch with the natural world, and maybe all the karens should worry about the disgusting amount of pollution in London’s waters killing millions of fish a year instead of two blokes doing catch and release fishing. Frankly I think it’s brilliant and would love to see more young people using London’s waters in this way.
@jamesharrison27636 ай бұрын
You can't overfish if you are catching and releasing, because none of the fish die or are injured. People are allowed to use London's waters for recreation. That includes everyone, not just some. They wasn't leaving hooks, line or other trash in the area or in the walkways. Every body of water in the London area attracts people, so by your logic fishing would just be banned across all of London. A city famous for it's Eels as part of tradition and has a huge river running through it. What a travesty that would be. Nature is better when you interact with it.
@jamesharrison27636 ай бұрын
How would we know the health of the fish populations if nobody ever bothered to catch them? Fisherman work with conservationists all the time to help monitor the different species and numbers in any given area. What does those members of the public know about fishing? Nothing.

@jamesharrison27636 ай бұрын
They was introduced here in about 1400Ad and so are considered to be here to stay at this point. However new Zealand still has many unique fish species and carp will just out compete them and wipe them out. Just like the Burbot in the UK, the only freshwater cod species in the world, now extinct because of human over fishing and being out competed for food by carp. Thankfully, burbot are thriving in north America.

@theHorizonLiner8 ай бұрын
You clearly haven't watched every video then. I don't cause any grief, the people that come up to me while I silently mind my own business are the ones that do. Furthermore, despite the amount of pettiness and unjustified insolence I put up with, I maintain my composure without fail and diffuse these situations to the best of my ability in doing so. The way other people act is out of my control, so if they decide to make a scene it's up to them. Finally, not every rule is worthy of being followed, as some are only there for the good of those who wrote them. Remember if rules can be written, they can also be changed, and as such they should evolve accordingly with the appropriate situation.
