Fishing from a pier with light tackle. Join Graeme as he goes pier fishing with light tackle rods. Fishing doesn't always have to be about big fish, although that's what we sometimes aim for. At the beginning of the episode Graeme and Mike head off to the Dorset coastline for a bit of coastal exploration and some small hooks/small baits fishing using travel rods. Then Graeme follows up with another shore trip, this time after the mini species off a Stone Pier. It's all a bit of fun and best of all you get to travel light and try different marks...What does Graeme get most of his fish on?? Manky old frozen Ragworm. It's a wonder he uses any bait at all.

An 18g float with some squid and you won't be able to stop pulling out gobys,wrasse, conger eels and Whiting, even small bass! Its great fun, and if you're feeling adventurous you can bait up a spinner and go for mullet.

I use the tubular style Bouncing Bettys when I ledger for wrasse. Because they’re long, straight, and semi buoyant, they don’t tend to get snagged in crevices in the sea bed.

Thanks, Graeme. Nice simple fishing and like you said a fish is a fish. It's all very well catching monsters but if you start off catching a couple of hundred of these smaller fish, for youngsters and new fishermen, its invaluable experience.
@TAFishing
@TAFishing 4 жыл бұрын
Better to start small and work up to the bigger fish. Then you have appreciation of general fish sizes. If you just go straight out and catch a 25lb Carp it sort of spoils it for later trips when you only get the smaller fish. A big one every once in a while is nice.

I've just been to south Devon on holiday and ended up going to Exmouth Marina every day with my mate fishing for mini species. It was great fun, I caught my first Pollack and my mate caught his first Wrasse. I think it cost us £5 for the Rag worm and we still had some left at the end of the holiday. Brilliant fun, all thanks to you Graeme.

Great video Graeme what an interesting coastal rock formation in the first part of the video, nice large fossil in the rock. Second part on the Pier interesting for the amount of different species on light fishing tackle. With all the stupidity going on in this country it was so nice to get away from it all with 50 minutes of relaxation. Thanks for posting.

Graeme - good stuff. When you said "Two light rods and a backpack, and just go", I thought great, a neat LRF session with Graeme. Then I see all the stuff piled up behind the stone bench: 4 or 5 bags, ground bait bag, rod rests, landing net (telescopic) multiple rods. I had a good chuckle. I see myself, and I have no camera gear.

Hi Graham, that Japanese bait you are using is usually made with very small shrimp, about the size of a finger nail. The locals here usually use it in a feeder above a line of sabiki hooks for yellow tail, mackerel, horse mackerel and sardines. Usually fished from deep water ports using a big float and small rubber sliding stopper. Been a massive TA fan for years! Thanks for all the entertainment from the Northern Japan!
