Glad you are safe but kinda agree with the guy who towed you in. I have been out there numerous times and when the wind picks up it gets real nasty real quick. You got lucky that day as the conditions were not too bad. Not sure how far you actually went out in the bay but you were lucky your motor pooped out where it did. Be safe and don’t over estimate your boats handling. Good luck!!

I run a 10ft inflatable in the columbia river in wa/or and people think im crazy. These small crafts are plenty safe and capable.

Not a boat issue. OB issue. Ive got an 8.4m pilot house 2x OB and i have also had to be towed, it happens to the best of us. Always take safety gear. Does your foldaboat have a bilge?

Not automatic, just a manual pump. Had one before, but it was not really worth it since I don't typically get more than a few splashes in the boat.

I’m new to boating. Just bought a 10 foot porta boat with a 2.5 HP motor. I plan to use this rig in the bay and primarily salt water like you often do. Is the 2.5 HP motor enough to move 600lbs around those types of currents? Do you use an anchor ever? I only way 250 but will sometimes have a buddy and some gear.

I started out with a little 2hp and she got the job done! Just dont expect to move quickly. I think I would get around 4 mph. I've never used an anchor tho
