Sweet! I caught my first salmon on a fly rod out of Grand Lake Stream. It measured 20". This is my first time watching this production. Loved it!

A week or so ago, I caught a 5" salmon on Cross Lake way up in Northern Maine. A shame it wasn't larger, but a salmon is still a salmon!

At 40 sec. in that's Long Pond (and King to the right just before that) between Rt. 9 and Stud Mill Road not too far from Alligator Lake as the crow flies. Cool vid.

Not sure why you need a dropper when you're fishing across and downstream? And when the surface texture obscures the float behavior, etc. Thanks. Gorgeous filming!

One of my favorite spots.Lot's of memories. Although I haven't fished itsince the 70s. Thinking about a trip up this year. Did Orvis take over White's camps? And was that the hatchery on shore. Hmmm.

That was the hatchery on the shore Frank. Not sure about White's camps. Get up there if you get a chance!

Can anyone tell me if there is a difference in taste between the same species growing in freshwater or salt water?

Excellent footage! Maine is one of the Country's most remarkable gems when it comes to the outdoors. Which is why I continue to stay here and explore these winding rivers and crystal clear waters for some of the best fishing anyone could ever ask for. Check out my channel for more Maine fishing! Including Fly, Spinning and Casting footage for Trout, Smallmouth, Largemouth, Pickerel, Panfish and more!! All while having a good time up here in Maine; the way life should be.

What month were you there? We're planning a trip to Maine and we'd like to go in early September but I've read the fly fishing is best in May.
@OnTheWaterMedia6 жыл бұрын
Hi Ben, we were there at the very end of the season. Mid-October, I believe. Yes, it's supposed to be a little better in the spring, but September should still be a great bet!

By far Grand lake stream is my favorite spot. My wife and I go from April 1st to mid to late June. I have not gone yet in October by want to this year.
@stevekingsbury46435 жыл бұрын
@@OnTheWaterMedia sometimes the salmon do not drop down out of the lake until later in October as they did this year. Climate change is having its effect on this I believe. The season ends on October 20.

They look just like browns
@OnTheWaterMedia2 жыл бұрын
Very similar in appearance. The salmon tend to have slightly forked tails, few spots below the lateral line, and an upper jaw that doesn't extend past the eye. Browns have a squared-off or rounded tail, spots below the lateral line, and a jaw that extends past the eye.
