Wow beautiful fish, especially from west grand. I did a big trip up there last year and one of my fathers friends said his wife had a 16 pound laker on a jig pole in the shack. She had him right at the hole but couldn’t grab the net and it broke off right at the hole. My fathers friend was outside talking to his buddy’s and she was so pissed at him 😂. Hopefully I’m goin’ this year, wish me luck!

So I've noticed something. Every time you drill a hole, you get it started a couple inches in then you look up and around.

Your third day was slamming, but a 9-pound giant lake trout? The 39 pounder caught at Richardson was giant. Where was that 20 pounder caught? A know some guys who have caught 26 - 30. My father knew a 42 and 48 pounder caught in 4 foot of water not far from there, but not officially weighted. They're in there.

Oh for sure there are bigger fish. But there are also a lot of factors into getting bigger fish some being the moon phase, the weather, how often they feed, and fishing pressure. Giant is relative to what you are catching and what you have already caught. We were extremely happy with that nine pounder.

It was my son's PB and he was excited. What's wrong with that? There are def bigger ones in that lake but they didn't happen to snag one that week. Most fisherman are happy for each other when they snag a PB.

The two of us caught over 100 togue and salmon in a week. Our average togue was 8 pounds. But nothing like 36 in one day, though there were more of you.

Still looking for that big togue. West Grand seems to have smaller togue like Pleasant or Moosehead. You should try dead bait halfway in the water column on a drop off, and in 4 foot of water in a thoroughfare between island or points.

A friend caught 1 togue 3 months in a shack (he wouldn't move). The professional guide we fished next to caught 5 all winter (too slow for me). We caught triple that each day (he wouldn't change his depth). Who can spit further has nothing to do with this. Hopefully, we can learn from each other, and maybe challenge one another. BTW, 36 fish is still slamming. Kudos!

Joe, you guys gotta stop biting hooks off and releasing fish. They all die. Keep them if they swallow it or learn a technique for getting deep hooks out. Your vids are good man, but you guys kill a lot of fish.
@JoeHollandFishing
@JoeHollandFishing 3 жыл бұрын
Man I’m not so certain they die, we have caught a lot of fish with hooks rusted out or fresh hooks in them or line coming out of their gullets. I’ll look into other techniques though. I appreciate it . Thanks for the heads up.

If you have the proper hooks they will disnigrate in 3 days.. should always be able to get the hooks out or if not keep the fish if legal. Like the content. Thanks

@@JoeHollandFishing Pull the line a little and if you can see the shank of the hook, go in through the gill plate carefully with pliers. Grab the shank and roll it out.

It's always a trade off, jabbing a hook into a fish doesn't help it one bit. If we truly want to protect the fish then don't go fishing, I prefer to fish. Many will survive, some won't, at least they give them a fighting chance, an iced fish that's kept doesn't get that chance.
