Southeast Asia is home to a long history of boat building being a maritime region. Some of the best boat-builders are the Bugis of South Sulawesi and the Suluks/Tausugs of the southern Philippines.

Hey guys; thanks for all you are doing. I'm from Victoria BC but never had the pleasure of meeting you. I wish I was in a financial position to contribute to your adventure but sadly I am not at this time. I really love that you show a world scale view of your travels. It gives a sense of scale & progress. Thank you for sharing your travels with the rest of us.

Amazing to see, we did a yacht delivery from bali to johor baru Malaysia especially at night trying to avoid the fishing boats was a job on its own! Stopped over at Belitung island watch out for the bad fuel over there ;) be safe out there guys ! Awesome to see what you guys do brings back some incredible memories.

I think you are both interested in naval transportation technology. I recommend you to see the replica of ancient ship named Samudra Raksa that was built by British ex-navy on the basis of the information of the ship on the reliefs of Borobodur temple and has been tried to sail through the ancient route as described on the reliefs and in other supporting historical literature to Madagaskar or something. Some Westerners are "crazy" for doing such "crazy" things like building a replica of ancient ship and trying it in a real life voyage. I think you are among those "crazy" Westerners who have sold everything for sailing across the world.

Some hardwoods are not healthy to breath and I think Ironwood is one of them but don't remember for sure. I'm a carpenter and when working with some woods, it's best to ware a simple dusk mask. You don't need an elaborate dusk mask to protect yourself at all, all you need to do when working with it is to keep from breathing it. Fucken awesome craftsmanship! Thank you very much for sharing this! Love your channel!!!

Hi Ashley and Ben, instead of going to Singapore please come to Johor instead. It is the most Southern State in Peninsular Malaysia. There is a Marina located at Iskandar Puteri Harbour where you can berth your boat at a much cheaper price than you would in Singapore. Check out one15marina.com. Before you think this is some advertisement, no I don’t work for the Marina but just a local who loves to follow your sailing adventure! Love to welcome you in our harbour and show you around our islands
