Try a better grip for more control of conventional. Ur right hand above reel. Wrist locks reel into arm. More leverage.

What type of hook do you use for live bait rig up.

I use gamakatsu live bait hooks in 3/0 to 1/0 sizes. If I am targeting big fish, then I will up my leader and use a circle hook on this type of reel. I tie the live bait hooks using a small loop knot and snell the circle hooks.
