All man... I appreciate the tip on the darker colors. I was targeting crappies. Those are some nice big slab you pulled out the barpit. My brother and I was at the barpit last Friday morning. Right on brother, once you pass the island to the right side, there's a 40 yard stretch of bluegill beds almost inline with the outer edge of the island... Hey Anthony, that second lake you fished you said you haven’t fished in 30 years, did you have to hunt a while for that brush pile? I would like to understand better how to find the fish on lakes I haven’t fished in years. Love your vids 😊
@WalkingOnWater2 жыл бұрын
I appreciate your support brother, it doesn't take me a long time to find fish on any body of water. I found 16 brush piles along with other structures in the 1st hour of scanning. I use side scan 95% of all my trips. Never get into a habit of going to spots like brush piles, instead get into the habit of finding and identifying fish. You'll become a next level fisherman. I hope my reply helps. 😎✌

God bless you! I envy you, I love fishing, but have not done any for years. Now that I can get fishing and hunting licenses at absurdly LOW prices I am not able to make use of them! Life's little ironies. I still hope to be able to do SOME fishing. I'd love to instill a love of fishing in my videogame-addled teenage son. He's wanting to go deer hunting, but he needs an adult with him, and it's been well over a decade since I've been able to go hunting. Right now I'm recovering from open heart surgery, am tethered to my oxygen line 24/7, and getting ready for adrenal tumor surgery. Anyway, I do envy you. There were times when I was younger that if I didn't fish, I didn't eat. I did learn to catch monster carp, and although at first they'd snap 20 lb line I was eventually able to land them with 8 lb line, although it did take some time to wear them out. I used corn nibblets for bait and was catching one after another -- had to stop when my metal stringer was full, including one on the "belt" clip end (a boat clip, but, I was on foot). I couldn't lift them all up, I had to sling the chain over my shoulder and drag them. I was the only one catching fish although there were plenty of others there. People kept inching closer and closer to me as if I had found the secret spot -- but they still didn't catch anything. The carp could not resist the corn! I had a friend who "informed" me that "you can't eat carp" -- he was adamant, he really believed it. Well, one day I was frying up a nice mess of carp fillets. He happened to stop by and said boy, that really smells good, what is it? (hint hint!) I said, "Fish." He repeated that it really smelled good. (yeah, hint hint) I waited a bit, chitchatted about whatever, and he mentioned again that it smelled good. So I asked if he'd like to try a piece. He says _Yeah!_ So I give him a piece, a breaded slab maybe 4" or so, and he starts in on it and goes WOW! This is _really_ good! And he quickly finishes it off. I ask if he'd like some more, and he's like Yeah! So, I give him another piece, and he's chomping away, and then he asks, "What kind of fish did you say this is?" "I didn't say." "Well, what kind is it?" "Carp." He looks at his watch, stops eating, hands the plate back, and says he's gotta run, gotta be somewhere, bye! And he rushes out the door. Wouldn't surprise me if he put his finger down his throat once he was out of my sight! Food bigotry, go figure. You can't eat carp? Great! More for me. :)
@WalkingOnWater3 жыл бұрын
Lol, good story brother.. don't know why he wouldn't eat carp... I have had it a few times, but if I had a choice, I'll choose crappie over most fish for table fair. I appreciate your comments and support, and I'll be placing you in prayer for your medical conditions. Thanks 🙏

@@WalkingOnWater -- PS: I love panfishing, my favorite is Perch. And, their big brother, Walleye. I remember one time when I was fishing and the Perch were going insane, I'd immediately get one on hook the instant I'd toss out a line -- hook baited with worm. The feeding frenzy was so insane that I decided to add another hook, and was getting two at a time. I then on a hunch decided to toss in a bare hook (two, I guess), and I was still catching them! Not as quickly as with bait, but still, it was pretty remarkable to me. I filled my pail and left. Never had that happen again, never figured it out. I guess it was like "well, throw your net out the _other_ side of the boat" day. (Not to wax Biblical, of course :)

@@WalkingOnWater -- one last comment: In Europe, Carp are a game fish. There are Carp clubs, competitions, special Carp gear, magazines, and so forth.
