I came from PR knot to FG knot...now to SC knot. I like SC knot the best! very easy no tool needed and fast plus strong. I landed over 200lbs BFT no problem at all.

It's basically a modified and added finish to a YUCATAN KNOT. The idea of all of these knots is the premise that we use a higher test strength mono leader. This is to allow the braid to imprint via deformation into the mono. This is why these all only work if the mono is sufficiently higher test than the braid tonallow for some loss of its strength via the braid imprinting and thus deformity the mono. The second part is you want to avoid doing anything to cut into the braid itself via its own line. Locking down those final lock off knots that hard may actually have it lowering its break strength. It would need to be tested. Nothing wrong with the half hitchs and finishing rizzuto knot. The issue comes from how hard you cinch it down. No more than needed to lock it as its only there to create a ramp for the guides. You need to keep to the goals and intent of each part. The locking power holding the mono and braid to each other comes from friction to the braid to mono and it reforming into the mono with the tag in self locked period. There should never be much tension from stressing the knot on the lock off of the braid. Just remember everything you have the braid crossing over itself thus cutting into itself you create a weakness when force is applied. Basically a Yucatan knot but increasing the number of loops from the typical 6-8 to those used in the FG 20-30. That us the major change as itmore than doubles the surface area connection between braid to mono on top of the braid being doubled over. The only thing to improve on might be to take a small amount of braid or wazed floss and doing some wraps on the mono end to protect wear thru as it reeled in thru the guide. As if that area of the loop wears it will fail the knot as it will unravel. But it's a great knot that is not as technical on tension during loops/twists as the fg. BTW if the leader mono is of same or lower test strength just double it.

Much easier and faster to tie than the FG knot, hope it's performing well. Will try it on the next fishing trip (as a faster alternative to the FG knot) Thanks for sharing.

Looks good to me. Except for the exposed double line from the end of the wraps to the beginning before the half hitches, can be abraded more easily which can result in the knot unraveling. So i still prefer the FG; but that’s just me. 😎

Hi there. Wow. So, is that an SC knot. It is a 30 twist Yukatan knot with 2 x half hitches and finished off with about a 12 wrap whipping knot. You must really like tying knots to try this one. Is it a 100% knot? Do you know its strength rating? Thanks.

I like this knot. But I think alot of people will tie it without proofing it first (pulling it tight longitudinally so it bites onto the mono) before closing it off with the half hitches. If this isnt done (even on FG knot) it will slip.
