My main take away is how unbelievable it is that you're at least "30 plus years" old, and still haven't mastered English at a 3rd grade level. Absolutely unbelievable. Using English as a primary means of communication. Speaking and hearing others speak daily. Yet still lack the perceptiveness and intelligence to understand the most basic words. You said "I seen it". Not to mention the horrible grammar. I'm not a stickler for grammar and spelling or anything. I just find it fascinating how some people can be so out to lunch.

@@markh141 No need to apologize or stop commenting. I'm not upset either. I just find it fascinating. You don't have to be taking an exam to be able to speak simple English. That's just silly. Saying "I seen it" instead of "I saw it" is just a lack of education. I'd imagine you say "I seen" all the time. It has nothing to do with the capacity you say it.

The trilene knot is a great knot, I use it 90% of the time.. (BUT - NEVER on split rings!),, the tag end is the key to this knot holding! The tag end MUST lay on top of the hook, parallel with the eye and directly under the knot after being pulled tight. If "not" it WILL pull loose!! This is from 35 years of tying this knot.

If you use the Palomar knot this same thing happens if you cross the loop that goes around the lure/swivel. Def good to keep in mind never settle if you cross the line in any knot

Also to add, if y’all like leader the FG knot does the exact same thing, that knot is so unbelievably strong, but you have to make sure all the coils sit next to each other. If even one or two cross, that knot goes from the strongest leader knot to the strength of 2lb test

Holds better than Palomar on Flouro. A lot of people don't seem to know that Flouro will have a lot more weaknesses than braid or mono when tied, so you need to use particular knots to compensate. Palomar is fine for mono or braid though.

The reason the Palomar and this knot are so strong is because the line goes through the eye twice. What you should've pointed out is that the double lines must be parallel in the finished knot. If they're over lapping each other the knot is weaker.

@jimf19642 жыл бұрын
So it’s basically an improved improved cinch knot? I’ll give it a try, though I rarely have a cinch knot fail, and it usually breaks off from some line damage

Hahaha seems to be. Cinch knots are always so good.
@jimf19642 жыл бұрын
@@FTWQ My dad taught me almost 50 yrs ago, and used them ever since. I find if it isn’t done right, it usually slips when you’re cinching them down (always do that part good and hard). After that you’re good, but I’ll be trying this. So long as nothing is crossing to weaken the line, it can’t hurt to double it up, but that’s what’s good about the regular cinch. Easy to make sure nothing is crossing over and wearing it.

@FTWQ5 жыл бұрын
That is a good question. I'm not sure of the true "mechanics" of this knot. All I can recommend is, if you wrap the lines the opposite way, go ahead and run the tag in the opposite way as well. From my experience, the way I show in this video has worked the best for me. I hope this helps in some way.

Why not 'improve' it by going through the last loop like the improved clinch knot? Wouldn't that make it even stronger?
@sgib1994 жыл бұрын
For years I’ve pulled up through the top loop like you said...but it apparently isn’t necessary. Advantage of NOT doing it is the tag end is pointing down and less prone to catch the weeds. It doesn’t make it any weaker...if the tag end is locked down, it is locked down.
