fun light hearted day flipping whitebaits for some tropical fish. Always cool pitching some live pilchards.

I think most of those bigger muttons are out a little farther on the patch reefs and even deeper this time of year but you can still luck up and hook into an 18" or bigger inshore sometimes too. Good luck😎

Your salt water fishing makes me wish I also salt water fished. I've missed the boat! I have lived in central California all my life. Just 2 hours from a coastal community. What brand braid do u use? I’m looking to spool up my stradic 2500 with braid and a fluoro leader
@nestoroniFL4 жыл бұрын
Go for Seaguar Smackdown. Best braid there is imo. If you don't want to shell out that much money just go with regular power pro. 15lb if going with Seaguar, 10lb if going with Power Pro. Pick up a few spools of floro or Momo leader ranging from 15-30lb. For floro I like Yozuri HD or Seaguar Blue, for mono I like Momoi.
@lizzard74734 жыл бұрын
Or if you're like me, head down to youre local department store and pick up some Spider line. I like the 20lb stealth. I get it for around $15 for 150 yards. For leader its pretty economical to grab a little spool of the Berkley floral leader I think its 20 yards 10-20lbs for like $10. As for backing just the cheapest mono ($2-3 for 300yards) of relative diameter to the main usually 8lbs for me does just fine. I usually put on about 15 or 20 yards then tie on the main with a uni to uni knot. So far it's worked without fail. Attaching the leader to main I like the FG knot. That ones a little tricky but with a some practice its dope when you finally get it right

I fish like this all the time. Its usually what's in the water around me. It makes for a nice day. Especially when I head out purposely without any bait and work my way up the food chain. By the end of the day I usually have a shark of some sort on the line having started the day with nothing but a cast net.

Went up the river on Saturday but nothing doing, just 3 skinny snook and 1 sheepshead. Waiting for the big snook sunning themselves to show up. Sorry but I can’t get excited about tiny snapper - I’d rather catch ladyfish at least they jump and make good tarpon bait. Having 2 out of the 4 lanes open at the ramp was slowing down an already painful process of idiots on parade. Man I miss fishing during the week when it’s empty.
