Decided to go out today and fish with an expensive ladyfish lure swimbait. It was an interesting experience fishing with the big swimbait in the saltwater river of Florida

Great video! I agree that it should come with a hook, however, I only paid $15 bucks from 13 Fishing website. Also, I used the recommended Owner Hook and I can retrieve much faster because it 3/4 oz. Also, I'm not the biggest fan of the nose pins that come with it, so I just use toothpicks instead and I place 1 in the body underneath the barb.

An 11/0 swim bait hook would be better with that swim bait, but $30 is too much for any soft plastic. I'd rather spend my money on a spool tech swimmer.

Tie on the “slick lure” and try it down there. Great lure on north gulf coast for big trout, reds and the occasional flattie. It’s like a paul brown lure and a weed less jerk bait made a baby

8" 13 Fishing Ladyfish (dark) routinely available online for $8. We fish them bridle-rigged with a 9/0 39948 circle hook and a 3/8oz nail weight glued in the belly for striped bass from Race Point CC to Cuttyhunk to Narragansett to SS Long Island and catch puh-lenty big girlz. Caught 38lb Drum on OBX with it last October. Buy 'em by the dozen the bluefish will chomp their tails off.

LL - I wonder if a Gambler GZ 8 inch in say icebreaker color would absolutely crush them. 8/0 EWG weighted. I know y’all like the NLB but I bet the gambler would be great. Harken back to your bass fishin days. Lookin forward to a new mini LL.

Can the 13 Fishing lure be repaired by running a bit of braid through it right to left at the center? This could hold the hook into position anyway. I also think this lure would benefit from a size 9/0 hook with a heavier weight or underspin to keep it oriented upright.

How about a big jighead with stout hook for that lady? Probably have to use some superglue too. A lot of better options that you discussed at the end. Not a lot of sense in having to go to all that trouble to make a bait work. It looks awesome though!

I've got that bait in the blue gill and gizzard shad. Trouble for me is the weight of swim bait hooks is too light. If it was heavier I could reel it faster. Mad yours tore, I guess mine will soon. 😢

Since you like throwing bass lures in salt water. You could try out the 6th sense Crube or one of their big whale swim baits. The whale definitely won’t turn to the side.

I believe your supposed to use a tooth pick when rigging that brother. You put the hook in and then put the tooth pick under it to keep it pinned if I remember correctly 👍🏽. I agree with you though definitely not worth it

Lawson you want a good rod and reel. Get a 8'6 st corix medium heavy and a diwa pro x 400 bait caster I can throw 10 oz muskie luers and even throw a .5 oz lures
