Thanks to all my karuk people for fighting for so long! Future generations will give thanks for all the work that has been done

Great news!

250 fingerling Coho were safely relocated up the creeks (none will statistically return). That was enough to mitigate the death of an unknown number of “overwinters” that suffocated due to sediment and low dissolved oxygen levels.

@JL-ln1gz There is going to be some pain to reverse decades of poor water management in both lakes. The toxic algae blooms will never happen again now that the dams are gone. It will take time to flush all that bad news out to sea. It is happening 24/7. Has been since last January. Takes time for millions of tons of sludge to wash away. Thinking there would not a significant hit to the river is ridiculous. They knew this would happen and it was planned for. The water quality has improved vastly. The river is not dead. There are Salmon spawning in the lower Klamath this year.

You are leaving out huge part of this story of restoration. All you do is complain. Have you actually done one thing to benefit the river? Complaining and crying on KZbin does not count.

I wish they would put a ban on Salmon fishing for couple years until the Salmon can truly re establish the Salmon fishery . The Tribe needs a limit on Salmon just as every other fisherman..This needs to be intently watched by DFG .

The tribe dose have a limit how about do some of you own research before saying some nonsense
@JohnHunt-rg5syАй бұрын
Between gillnets and seals that will soon end.
@johnkilty141929 күн бұрын
Wrong! Since you care about the Salmon so much. How about you and all your good ole boys commit to not fishing until the numbers swell? You complain about the tribe's subsistence fishing. Yet I hear you say little about the drift boats, jet boats, guides taking city folks on rivers to gain bragging rights. Soon all your friends who like to brag about fishing, will all be saying how great the fishing is in years to come. A smart and informed person would easily see that this project is a wonderful thing. If you cannot see that. You have become a bitter and ignorant human. @JohnHunt-rg5sy

It's Ishi Pishi falls, not ishy-fishy, and it's Somes Bar, not soms bar. Geesh, trouble pronouncing words?

Now they will gill net the river and wipe out the salmon again.
@johnkilty1419Ай бұрын
@williamgrundler5381Wrong! When the fish begin to thrive in a few years. You can thank them. Been to any Salmon streams this year? Lots of spawning fish. Lots. Water stayed high all season and the fish shot right through to their spawning beds.

Makes me throw up in my mouth watching them catch and kill salmon this fall after the absolute slaughter that occurred over the last year. Care more about themselves than the fish or others upstream.
@RippieFarmerАй бұрын
What slaughter are you babbling about? The die off of non salmon species from them removing the dams that were killing the salmon? Makes you throw up watching indigenous tribes finally being able to continue their tradition and federally granted rights to provide food for their own people?
@olachensАй бұрын
"The others upstream"? They ARE the "others upstream".
@JL-ln1gzАй бұрын
The death of the upriver wildlife due to sediment discharge was anticipated and well documented. No babble it you ever actually walked the river’s edge.

The ancestral territory only enveloped the Konomihu Shasta Tribe and New River Shasta Tribe up the Salmon River when the Internet and GIS was invented. Then to erase the existence of the Shasta Tribe upriver is modern warfare in the name of casino and gov. $$
@JL-ln1gzАй бұрын
The only “Rippie Farmers” on the river are dope growers that poison the watershed with the fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, ect. all while hypocritically preaching and accepting $$ for salmon restoration while turning a blind eye to the pollution poisoning the most prestige watersheds. Never once hear the cartel grows being a concern over the last 20 years have you?? Been there Seen that.

F>>>poachers !!!!
@johnkilty1419Ай бұрын
@geramimi2526 Said the good ole boy! I am sure you know some fish snaggers. Calling a tribe member a poacher. Tells us all exactly who you are. We see you. Same old tired rhetoric from the locals at the local watering hole.
