Knew some ferriers growing up. You gotta be an absolute beast to do it. Most of them are smaller, stringy guys as tough as nails....working all day half bent over with a horse leaning on you while you do your job...Tough, tough, tough.

I got my ponies shoes changed, and feet rasped every 6 weeks regardless of the look of his feet. He remained outdoors in a field all year round. I did ride him around everyday and, that included many tarmac roads hence the shoes. So that was how we dealt with farrier issues. If a shoe became loose that mean't another phone call to the farriers. Just an endless speal of expense. It was well worth it because he gave me so much joy to own. I loved him to bits. Just my best friend 24/7.
