Thanks, the only thing I would add is make sure you buy stainless steel eyes if you salt water fish. I have to order new ones and replace these due to rust.

Great video brother!... I'm about to tackle this on two of my only dunking rods that I have. Taking it to a shop here in Hawaii is going to cost $30 per eyelet, for each rod. I'm a DIY kind of guy, and I appreciate this video. Mahalo's! \m/

I thought I recognized that accent! Fellow (former) South Louisianian here - and your video is perfect! I was worried about doing it "right", and this video shows me how easy it is to do it right, and make it look great. I'm in the Northeast now, and I have been trying my hand at fly fishing. I was gifted a flyrod from the late 1960s, and it needs to have the eyes rethreaded and resealed. Fishing for stream trout and is fun and all, but nothing like hooking on to a bull red! Can't wait to get back home to Louisiana to hit the marshes.

You’re telling me. Even basic tech repairs that are $5 will still have people buy a new device for $80 because 30 minutes is too much effort

Great video, well explained. I watched your video twice, attempted to replace an eye on my rod………….lets just say I could hear my heartbeat in my ears and was about ready to throw the F-ing rod across the room! You definitely make it look easy, I feel like I need 1 more hand the entire time!! Well I watched your video again, after I calm down some I’ll give it a shot again. Thanks for the video!

What thread did you use to wrap on guide ring, is it okay to use braided line?

about to try this in a few days. Got the same box of eyes that you showed in video. How do you set up your reel that you are taking off the braid? I orderd a small spool of line , but now sure how to set it up to keep tension on it? thanks
@SRadigFishing Жыл бұрын
I leave the reel on the bottom half of the rod and pile a bunch of books on it for weight. Then just play with the drag till the tension is right for you.

Personally put glue on my braid and wrap same to secure it makes it look like factory finish. Anyways I’m sure your braid works just as well without.
