Fishing Smiths Dock North Shields

A day out fishing at Smiths Dock in North Shields.
Early October 2023.
Plenty of Whiting around but not much else.
Free parking nearby, and a very short walk to the spot, cut through the fence and down a muddy slope.
Bait used was, ragworm, mackerel and bluey.

Good enjoyable channel, your enthusiasm is infectious.😀 Living so far from the sea we can only get for a couple of overnighters a year, so keep the videos coming. One tip to try when the Whiting are swallowing the hook right down, is to try a circle hook, they are barbless, never come out, are easy to remove, always lip hooked, just remember you don't have to strike just wind in. That smallest one you caught we'd class as a big whiting here of piers or shore, they get them a bit bigger on the boats. Thanks for the video, take care, Norfolk Ray

We get some proper chunky Whiting up here Ray, they can become a bit of a pest when trying to catch other types of fish 🐠

Not a bad result at all, for a quick local trip; well done both of you. If you leave a spare flask of hot soapy water & an old towel in the van, you can pour it over each other's hands to save getting the van too smelly. I've never seen anyone else do this. Matbe you could troll off the back of the shields ferry?

That’s a great idea Ashley, the van does get a bit stinky after fishing. I don’t think the trolling idea is such a good idea though 😆

Hi, and thanks for watching. Park on the road that runs from the ferry landing (park about half way along to the boat club), there’s a walking path there, and a hole in the fence, jump through and walk over to the corner of the wasteland just to the right 👍

@@fishinghinny is it still alright to fish there now? I have had my eye on this spot for a long time but didn't know about the 'hole' and the signs put me off a bit. Has anyone got into trouble for fishing there? It's just wasteland, shame if nothings happening with it that walkway can't be opened up. Especially with both piers being closed!
