Using artificial baits to catch Spotted Sea Trout. Nice Kayak Launch Site for fishing the St. Petersburg Florida area.

Thanks for the info. I've only fished there a couple times, and was trying to keep it artificial. I'll have to give the live bait a try. I saw some reds tailing over the oyster beds between the kayak launch and boat ramp, but couldn't get them to eat the artificial.

I fish at veterans a decent amount, I've caught a decent amount of speckle trout off the sandbar and some reds, and a couple of snooks by the piers near john pass.

I’m going to have to make the trip across to Johns Pass. On a calm day I’m sure it would be great to drift in the pass.

Lady fish make great bait. Cut them into big chunks and cast around structure. This is the time of year for bigger snappers, gags, and other stuff.

Almost took your advice today while at Belleair Causeway. Great day with trout and one small redfish. Caught two ladies, but it was close to the end of my trip so I stuck with the artificial. Thanks for the info!

@TheRealSaltyOG all you need is 1,2,3 ladies. Go back to the bridge and fish the structure. Bigger the chunk, Bigger the reward

Thanks for the tip! I'll try to get back there this week and give it a shot with the cut bait. I have 50lb braid on my big reel, I'll just have to switch out my leader for the heavier mono.

@TheRealSaltyOG start with 60 mono. If you get broke off, step up to 80

You just totally killed that trout by handling like that. Learn your stuff old man.

@eugeneweeks3325, Usually I would just ignore your comment, but I waited to make sure my reply was educational. I'm sure I handled the trout better than you handle people. Take your own advise, and don't just be a condescending prick. If you have some constructive criticism, help us poor morons out by being more specific. Did you not see me wet my hands or the measuring board before handling? Did I not kiss it before I let it go? Maybe you could have educated a few people (not a lot watch my videos!) Hopefully the outburst was at least therapy for your keyboard warrior ego! Following my own advice, I have a few recommendations for you...If you have something that would improve the perceived offense in the future, share the info. You can teach an old dog new tricks, but if you just try to beat it you should expect to get bit. If you are triggered by fishing videos, stick to cute cat shorts. Get out of mom's basement and actually speak to some people.
