False information about the world record brown trout. The LITTLE RED holds claim to the world record brown AND state brown in Arkansas which was 40 lbs 4oz. The recent catch was a white river record.

I’ve been fishing the White River with fishing guide, Larry Price, since 2012. The volume of trout we catch is insane. Most people won’t believe it. All fishermen are liars, right? My family fishes in October around the week of Columbus Day. We fish three persons, plus the guide for 6 days in two shifts per day; morning shift 8am to noon, lunch break from noon to 1pm, then second shift 1-5pm. In 2022 we caught 621 trout on our trip. Your video is great, and is typical of the outstanding trout fishing on the White River. I REALLY enjoyed watching y’all trout fish in this video! Well made, well done! #TroutClinic.

I believe it. My dad and I caught 100+ each in a day about a mile upstream from the confluence with the Norfork with a guide out of Rose’s. Insanity.

When handling trout for catch and release, it's proper to wet your hand before touching them so you don't remove too much of their protective slime; removing too much slime and open them up for severe and sometimes fatal infections. Also, I implore you to consider flattening the barbs in your hooks to reduce damage to the fish mouths. You can see that the brown trout at 7:04 has a broken maxilla on its mouth. This type of injury is often cause by improper handling of the trout, namely, using barbed hooks, treble hooks and not being gentile when removing hooks.

People get kind of closed minded when it comes to trout fishing technique. My biggest Brown was on a rattle trap. And my biggest Brookie was on a ten inch sluggo fished ridiculously slow off the bottom with a split shot twelve inches above it. I was fishing a muddy little pond for LM bass that day and got a 20 inch brookie. So I tried my whole trout arsenal to no avail, as they ignored nymph's, streamers, wooly buggers, dry flies, spoons, spinners and bait. But after tying the sloggo back on I landed 5 more Brookies 19-22 inches. Make sense of that¿? I've always done best with stickbates and jerkbaits for Browns. I use a krocodile spoon if its a lerge lake where you need to cast further. I fish Mostly at night when I'm targeting Browns. I use a loop knot (a must on stick/jerk baits) on 4-6lb floro. It seems light, but I use it for big, big Browns. 2-20 lbs. A lot of Brown Trout will start to ignore power bait, worms, insects and salmon eggs when they get over twelve inches.( Which is fine with me because I don't fish with any of that stuff). They also become nocturnal. If you go to your favorite trout spot just before dark and pitch a small stick bait around you will probably be surprised at some of the trout that are ignoring everybody else's presentations and bait.

Remember to handle Trout with wet hands or it damages the protective slime on their skin exposing them to diseases.

I know this is a bit late, but as a local, the 40lb 4oz brown trout was caught out of the Little Red River. The white river and northork hold TONS of 20-30 lb fish and I don’t doubt there are 40+lb fish in he white/Norfork rivers. It bothers me how these guys would know the actual truth and just lie like that.

That's a bold claim, that it's the Brown trout capital, it's not even a native species! Love the videos anyway.
@gregguillot48703 жыл бұрын
Brown trout are only native to Eastern Europe, West Asia, and North Africa. Catching one anywhere else in the world would be considered non-native I guess.
@davecosgrove87873 жыл бұрын
More than eastern Europe. They are native here in Scotland, as well as much of Scandinavia.
