I go fishing in the canaries regularly and mess about with light gear for bream, ornate wrasse, angel fish, puffers and all that stuff, which is fun. I'm mostly into using heavier gear with bigger stick baits, crank baits, poppers etc of 18-45g Deep marks fished at sunrise or sunset with a strong current will produce results. Bonito, medregal, barracuda/bicuda, lubina etc are common and all fight like hell and taste good. If you want some marks to try in north tenerife or fueteventura. Happy to PM you info

I’ve been watching your videos for a good few weeks now and I’ve not been sea fishing in years so I dusted off my gear and had a holiday in wales. I had a day fishing on porthor on the rocks with my dad who’s 76 and had plenty of bites and landed a couple of wrasse and I lost a conger but landed one in the last hour. I would just like to say thanks because you have made me get back on the beaches again. I’m based East Yorkshire so I’ve plenty of marks to fish. Thank you again and thanks for posting your videos.👍🏻👍🏻

Cheers Alex-I hope your little lad's ok. I go to Lanzarote every winter and pack a little very light telescopic, a 1000 reel and 5lb mono. I generally use 3 methods; (a) light waggler fishing bread on a size 14 hook catching loads of bonny mini species and the odd larger bream, (b) legering prawn pieces on a size 6 or 8 hook, catching larger fish inc bream, lizard fish and wrasse like fish (but losing some gear) and (c) floating bread pieces on the surface on a size 10 with a small bubble float catching mullet (missing 19 bites out of 20) and the odd bass. I fish in exactly the same places you did, and also in the sandy coves at the other end of the 'strip' in Pueto Del Carmen. Love your channel by the way

Yeah good to be able to get out finally, I'd have been gutted to fly home without wetting a line. He's good, thanks, apparently quite common in young kids up to the age of 6.

I know exactly how you felt with Jack. My eldest daughter had federal convulsions here in the UK when she was about 7 months old (25 years ago now). Scariest thing I've been through with either of my kids. Lucky enough my Sister was staying with me and she was a pediatric nurse who worked in SCBU, and she knew exactly what it was and how to deal with it. Hope Jack's feeling much better now. Glad you managed to get out in the end. Looked a lovely place, wind aside. Never had anything when abroad on the med fishing the docks/marina's when chasing the diamond back mullet, but it's great fun.

Sarahs a NICU nurse, and started CPR when he went limp but with no kit around the only option was to leggit to the emergency doctors opposite the hotel. Funny thing is when we let the grandparents know, my mum and dad's first response, 'oh yeah the nights we had to spend in a cool bath with you' 🤦🏻♂️ Much better prepared now, but scary as anything when you don't know what's going on. Had loads of success in the med, there's usually always lizard fish about. Great sessions on fuerteventura on the amber jacks. Just wasn't meant to be this trip.

@theawfulangler your parents reaction was the same as the reaction I got. Why do they not tell us this happens!!! Really glad he's ok. Little lad's been through the wars and he hasn't even had the mental torture of fishing and blanking yet 🤣

Drop shot or float size 12 hook with small pieces of prawns , isome worms or bread. Usually catches me plenty of the small stuff. 🎣👍

Novice parents over here, we are slowly growing our must-have items, that's for sure 😂 the docs were great and not at all concerned, which was reassuring. When I get time I'll definitely be hopping around some marinas with the tiny gear to see what oddities I can find.

I used to scuba dive that bay at night. Lots of octopus, cuttlefish, and the usual odds and sods. Lovely place, friendly people. I hope you had a lovely holiday. (did you try the submarine trip around the fudging boat wreaks?) 👍

Really nice place. We didn't do much touristy stuff, to be honest. The hotel had plenty of entertainment, and being all inclusive, there wasn't much reason to leave.

Lived in lanza for 17yrs found the other side of the island a bit more productive but where you are still can be good fishing and you can catch some surprisingly big fish.Fishing off the back of the harbour wall is allowed and with a 80 to 100grm metal let sink deep ,you will get lesser amberjack,bonito,sierra and barracuda.Enjoy and hope your son is ok
@theawfulangler4 ай бұрын
Thanks Paul, no doubt we will be back in the canaries again soon. It's a nice easy flight with Jack and we'll adapted for the UK tourists. So you'll definitely see me fishing there again

Hiya Alex, firstly I hope Jack is recovering well, everything else comes second to family, those islands are notorious for the constant high winds plus the many rules they have over there make is difficult enough, but It's certainly better than yesterday morning sat on Hornsea beach blanking (again) 5 of us and not a nibble , that bloody east coast 😡 P.s Check out Rigged and Ready in Kendal for some amazing lrf gear,
@theawfulangler4 ай бұрын
Jacks good thanks, apparently it's quite a common thing in kids up to the age of 6. You learn loads having kids lol. I can't wait to give the east coast another go, feel like I've hardly been this year. But yeah, it's so hit and miss this year, morning tide can be red hot and evening tide dead as a dodo

Hope the young lad is ok. I am off to Gran Can in October and was looking for how and what to fish, I notice that on Gran Can you need a licence. Did you need one for Lanzarote?
@theawfulangler4 ай бұрын
He's good now thanks, common in young kids, apparently, just major stress when you aren't prepared for it. You do mate, it's the Spanish fishing licence you need, covers all the canary islands, the balearics and obviously mainland Spain too. It's about €40 and lasts 3yrs. I never got challenged to produce it, but whether it's worth the risk is up to you 👍🏼
