Fishing the Columbia River for Fall Run Salmon

We always try to make a trip out the Columbia every year in hopes of bringing home some salmon. This four day adventure had its ups and downs as the weather limited us from fishing. We caught fish, but it was more work on finding them rather than catching them. Hope you enjoy this short video of our Columbia River trip.

I know this place well. Loved it when you went to the island where I fished and spanked some steelies. What do you do out there for salmon? like a slow back bouncing of eggs maybe 1 crank off the bottom?

They duck into the Deshutes to escape warmer Columbia water. However, the Deshutes is warmer now due to lower flows coming out of Wikiup Reservoir.

For the steelhead yes, for the salmon we used roe and sandshrimp
