I’m trying to trout fish for the first time and I’m trying to figure out there regulations on where I’m allowed to do what in the Wilson creek area and I’m all kinds of confused

Green, hatchery supported signs, you are allowed to fish there with no lure restrictions and a 7 fish limit from April 3rd - February 28th. That part of the river runs all the way up to the second bridge(I think). Black, delayed harvest signs, you are allowed to fish year round with a single hook lure restriction and no keeping trout. Although you’re able to keep 7 trout with no lure restrictions from June 5th - July 31st. The rest of the creek is delayed harvest starting from the second bridge or small town. Signs are everywhere on trees going up the creek just keep an eye out before you decide to hit a spot and also keep an eye out for purple spray paint on trees and such. Purple spray paint is private property so keep off that, the locals aren’t really nice from my experience up there. Hope that helps.

Stocked trout and they were at the middle-top part before you hit Edgemont

Do I need trout fishing license or just regular fresh water nc fishing license? What’s the limit to keep there? Do it have to be inches over?

You will need a trout license, and this is in delayed harvest so you cant keep until the first Saturday in June through July. Check the regulations online, I could be wrong
