Hi, to fish the dam you have to be booked into Singita Pamushana Lodge as the dam is located inside the Malilangwe private game reserve, the lodge is high end and is open year round.

Nice. Was this recent? Didn’t know that one could catch tigerfish in winter…
@ThisisAfricaOutdoors7 ай бұрын
Yes that was just the other day, it doesn’t get very cold here in the Lowvelt so we catch tigers year round. I’ve also heard of people catching big tigers in the Zambezi in winter too.

Hi! Have you ever seen these tigerfish hunting swallows? How rare is this?
@ThisisAfricaOutdoors7 ай бұрын
Yes I see them chase small tilapias sometimes onto the shore

@@ThisisAfricaOutdoors thank you for reply! I am a wildlife photographer and looking for a place in South Africa to take photos of tigerfish hunting for birds. Could you please, advice some places and season to have a good chance to make it in a week trip. I read about Mapungubwe NP?
@ThisisAfricaOutdoors7 ай бұрын
@sergaftru I have never seen tigers eating birds here at Malilangwe dam, probably because the water is usually too murky, Mapangubwe is the only place I’ve heard of it happening. Here you can see Tigerfish hunting in the shallows as the water level of the lake starts dropping from march to June
@Puponin_photo7 ай бұрын
@@ThisisAfricaOutdoors Thank you! So they are hunting birds when there is lack of food and the water level is low. Will try to find out more about Mapangubwe! Good luck in your adventures!

lool ur insane bro. Whats ur fishing level? fan from Minnesota!
That hippo has got something against you i swear 😂every video he is pestering you..... Just an interesting question is there bass in that lake also or do the tigers out compete them.....
@kobusengelbrecht43587 ай бұрын
Agree that hippo has something for Josh one question though bud not taking you on or something but why do peeps compare or rather ask if there is bass I see it this way bass mess up our eco system it's literally a pest and can not nearly give a fight like even a small tiger what do people see and find in bass that's so great if a tiger out perform it in absolutely every aspect
@ThisisAfricaOutdoors7 ай бұрын
Yes that hippo is my nemesis! The tigers were introduced in 2003 and the last bass was caught in 2013, but I have fished the dam my whole life and have never caught a bass in it I don’t think. Before apparently it was a really productive bass dam that was quite famous.
@qurijncoetzee49387 ай бұрын
@@ThisisAfricaOutdoors pretty interesting although i can see that the tigers will out compete the bass... I have heard of some good stories of the monster bass in spots in zim , and very good tigers fishing.... One day i will try and come up and land my first tiger 😉 Another qeustion the tilapia species in the dam where they also introduced or are some of them native ? And what do you reckon is the biggest tiger in there ?
@kobusengelbrecht43587 ай бұрын
@@qurijncoetzee4938yes there is some locomotive of bass not very far from the border 5kg and above last year one off my friends from our local fishing store went again and ya he landed some pretty good ones but he also said the big ones is either being netted or taken out you must really work hard for the big ones where in 3 to 4 years back the 5kgs was a normal size to catch
