I really like your fishing content and your messages relating to mental health and of course litter!! If you keep making the vids, I’ll keep watching them, doesn’t matter if you catch …. we’ve all had the days and err nights when we don’t. Yep it really hurts when decent fish get away but we always go back for more don’t we??!! So hope you and yours are well, thanks for mentioning ‘Movember’ and hats off for all of those miles you do!! Keep fishing and filming, can’t beat plenty of piscatorial viewing to binge watch through the winter months to keep the spirits up ….. even my wife watches them! 😅

Well done for sticking it out. Done it many times - driven a long way to fish a mark and you turn up and the conditions are shite or its full of weed. That feeling of 'why the **** am I doing this?' You just never know what might turn up - that big bass would have made it all worth while 👍

@theawfulangler well the beaches are not doing great, to be honest. The weed seems to have disappeared to a great extent however only few whitings are being caught here and there. I have tried marko few times and there is a lot of flatties around on worms but as soon as the pull kicks off it's practically impossible to fish and the 60z lead won't hold the bottom and the bites disappear. The fish only tends to bite when the pull dies down. In that sense you do lose fishing time. Apart from that it's a great venue. It is probably the closest and easiest to get to from Bradford. There has been few codlins caught at makro but they seem to be far and few kind of thing. Basically hit and miss. I fished with Jimmy cod bites about 2 days ago and that happens to be his favourite venue and he gave me quite a few good tips. He is lovely guy but at the moment he is not in the best of health due to tumour in his spine. I hope everything works out for him. The thing i really liked about him is that once he's out fishing he stays positive and always boast your morale 😆. Apparently I don't think I've got this kind of patience

An honest video but you need to stop being so hard on yourself. 1 you had the motivation to drive 350 miles to fish in a gale. Most would have stayed at home. 2 you caught varies species of fish that a carp dangler would have killed for 3 you saw your bass which have eluded me all year. It’s not crap, you are an inspiration.

Can the fishing be good in storm conditions or is this like I want to fish weather be damned type thing? Kind of new to the hole thing I kind of avoid winds my rods a bit shakey and i have trouble seeing bites on it when it gets a bit blowy.
@theawfulangler
@theawfulangler Жыл бұрын
It entirely depends on what you want to catch, really, Steve. Rays, like I wanted to target, prefer calmer conditions. Cod, on the other hand, loves a lumpy sea. Which is why I said I'd changed target. Bass also love it when theres some surf on the beach. Fishing in rough conditions can be rewarding. But common sense has to be applied. Sometimes, it's just safer to stay on the couch 😅

Just a quick one Alex, the bass that jumped off, were you using Circle hooks? I've been tempted to give them a try but not sure if they're any good. Another great video mate. ( why do we bother sometimes 😂) was working in Barry this time last year.( Dow ) but had no room for any fishing gear 😢. Take care .👍👍
@theawfulangler
@theawfulangler Жыл бұрын
Always room for fishing gear Greg 🤣 I do use circles mate, but always use pennel setups, so I have a J bottom and circle top. Usually it's the circle that gets um, and nicely lip hooked. But I can't get away from having that J in case the fish grabs the bait and misses the top circle.

@theawfulangler
@theawfulangler Жыл бұрын
Love the spinfishers. I've really abused them, and they still run like new. I've got the long cast versions in 5500 and 7500. Size depends on what kind of fishing you want to do. 5500 is enough for 90% of fishing in the UK if you ask me. The max drag rating is the same, so it's just down to the amount of line you need. I haven't emptied the 5500 yet 😅 but went for a 7500 to make sure I have ample line for deep marks in the future such as Scotland or Norway. Bit long winded, but hope that helps. Any more questions, ask away 🙂
