Can you talk a bit about the need to wade out? How shallow was the water and how far out did you need to wade? What was the bottom like where you had to walk out? Thanks! Great videos.

The reason we like to wade out is to get the bait further out. Generally when I’m fishing for buffs off the bank my thought is to get the bait as deep as possible. We wade out about 20-30 yards I’d say. And the bottom is pretty much alot of small rocks/river rocks & hard sand/mud bottom. And thanks I appreciate it! 😎

@ How deep is the water you are wading into? How deep are you fishing? Here in Iowa the Buffalo are mainly in rivers. Thanks!
@Dunnoutdoors2 ай бұрын
I wade to about waste deep & im about 6’ tall. And I’d say the water where our casts are hitting is probably around 20’ deep or so. Although I’m not 100% sure on that, I’ve never ran my boat through there with the depth finder to see. Maybe I will next time I bass fish it I’ll take a look. But I think overall, Walter E Long is 60’ at the deepest.

@davecretors3191 We usually fish for them during winter months and do well. But try it out! Tiger nuts work great there.

I’m planning on fishing lady bird lake for carp soon and what to use your same setup bro I got the method feeders but what type of hooks and size do you use?
@Dunnoutdoors5 ай бұрын
You can make your own hair rigs. Or you can buy them already rigged. Either size 2, 4 or 6. What I do is buy the pre rigged hair rigs on amazon and I usually use the size 2.

Are you using the same bait to catch cats and buffs?
@Dunnoutdoors6 ай бұрын
Yeah we used the same bait for the cats & buffs. We weren’t expecting to get that many cats on carp bait though.

@@Dunnoutdoors What would you recommend for bait for fishing strictly for cats?
@Dunnoutdoors6 ай бұрын
From my personal experience fresh gizzard shad is best. I like to use cut bait. One of my favorite ways to use it is to catch a large size gizzard shad and kind of fillet it. Then use that fillet or maybe half of it (depending on how big the shad was) & put it on a circle hook. Also Danny kings punch bait is very affective but tends to catch more of the smaller cats. Tilapia & perch are also really good.

do you fish for buffs all year round or is a paticular time of year best for them
@Dunnoutdoors Жыл бұрын
We fish for them during the winter months. Starting around November through February. I’ve heard that winter time is the best time to fish for them, from people who exclusively target them.

Sick video man, I live 5 mins away from decker lake. Have the game wardens ever given you a hard time for using the bait holders ? I know you can’t chum in Texas and I was just wondering if that’s allowed because I have been wanting to start caro fishing. Thank you
@Dunnoutdoors Жыл бұрын
Thanks, I appreciate it! And no I’ve never had an issue. And all of the people I know who carp fish use the same type of methods. So you should be good. I’ve never seen anything in the TPWD that says using method feeders are prohibited, but if you do lmk 😅.
