I'll be hiking into a remote creek in northern Tasmania fishing for wild trout in one of my favorite spots to fish. It'll be a solo trek six kilometers upstream through a rocky gorge and into the upper regions of the creek where there's a series of waterfalls. It's been to long since my last adventure captured on film, I hope you guys enjoy this one as much as I did, until the next one tight lines and bent rods.

Great vid Will, it’s wonderful you enjoy the outdoor beauty so much. The creek is low… you’re sooo good & acurate at casting… Gramps said he’d probably snag it every time 🙃😁 me too. You sure did get a few ‘thumpers’ good job 👍🏻 Love hearing the birds & those falls are very beautiful. 💙🩵💙 A very long time since we saw them… Grandmas glad you enjoyed your egg sandwich. 😊 Lovely trip for you…. Not sure if your dad taught you how to make the vids, but your professional quality of work is wonderful. You are an excellent fisher and have an obvious passion for the sport and conservation for the fish . Those two big fish were a great surprise and very unexpected in such shallow water. Well done, please keep them coming .

Great vid but those trout will live longer to catch another day if you don't let them bang around on the rocks and pick them up with wets hands so you don't knock all their protective slime off of them. just saying. Thanks for sharing. Beautiful stream trout spot.👊

Great video, You'll need a net though, because the protective layer of slime on the fish is damaged by the rocks, and for the same reason, You'll need to wet Your hands before You touch the fish.... - Oh, and You'll need a peang also, to help You release deep set hooks....;- )

You are a lucky lad Will Triffit, to have that trout creek at your back door. Tell your dad you need an “enviro trout net” to land your trout. Dragging them up onto dry rocks & gravel removed their protective coating of slime - and that can allow a freshwater type of mould to grow on those scars spots which will eventually kill them. The enviro net that protects them for catch & release. You can buy a spring loaded brass clip that goes on the mouth of the net, the second half clips to the back of your fishing vest, and you clip the net to it and it hangs at your back. When you hook a good one and reel it in, you just reach your free hand behind your back, grab the net handle and pull, the spring catch lets go and you net & release your fish, then clip the net back on and rinse & repeat. Next we need to teach you to fly cast & fly fish for trout.

Well done mate . That's my kind of fishing here in Victoria , finding the satisfaction of catching good size Trout in small crystal clear streams can't be beat . Leave no pool or run without fishing it my friend . They must be hungry fish there , where I am they would be more easily spooked out in the open like that , needing to approach them under more cover . Great video work 👍 Enjoy .

Great vid Will! I could see the school of trout despite the glare on the water. Yesterday I found a crayfish the same size as yours in a nearby creek, only ours are bright blue so easy to spot. Endangered and protected, so no eating, thankfully. They are grumpy buggers, not sure what the Tassie ones are like!

Hello. Great to see you out fishing. Did the same when I was younger. Here in British Columbia Canada we have strick rules on hooks. Single barbless. It's much easy on the fish apon release. Ditch the barbed treble hook. You will have more people watching your great vids. You will be setting a great example for others. Tight lines Will.

Awesome day, beautiful hike, and amazingly plentiful and gorgeous trout. Dry hands = dead fish. Consider a pair of hemostats to clip onto hook and detach without touching fish at all, I do. Keep 'em in the water when removing hook or hooking oneself. Pinched barbs help considerably. Hold your breath while fish are out of water... same as they are. Bleeding gills usually = dead fish. It'll be belly up in about ten minutes, not much blood in a trout. I keep the bleeders and eat them which is not frequent, rest are(brook trout) catch and release. When water is so low they can see very far, I kneel and cast at lower base of pools before standing to reach the alpha fish location at the head of the pool. Additionally, trout may hesitate to hit the lure when spotting you on return, You see the spooked. I've seen the biggest turn away and wish I'd been kneeling and had terrain matching clothing like I do now.

Aw nice little trout you caught and also nice to see you catching and releasing the bigger ones so they can spawn a new generation of trout that you can come back out to catch in a couple years. What is your limit per day if you decided to keep them, here in Arizona USA our limit is a whopping 7 but some years it has dropped to 5 per day it used to be 15 but those good days ended in 2017

if u can find a lure called a "lucky strike gem" give it a try. i catch brook and lake trout with it. #3 is what i use but im fishing in lakes(2-5lbs). u might want to try the lucky strike gem #2 or even #1 if u have really small river fish ur looking to catch. i also have a lot of luck with something called the EGB but they might not be made anymore. blue and silver little cleo works well too.

Sorry mate but I've fished a lot of years and straight up just from a glance at the footage you showed I thought a cormorant or something very similar made them scars as a trout bite mark is more triangular where the scars were longer and narrower together with what looked to be a hooked sharp end on the beak it wasn't from a set of tallons of say a white fish eagle as there's about 4 of them on each leg and I've seen cormorants grab trout before up to the size of that trout I'd say the trout was just big enough to kick around and break the birds grip esp if it was still in the water but a call to inland fisheries or pws would confirm it just talk to Rob or Levi before you do so so you know what not to say as we know they've had a few issues recently and you have them on call n say hi for me very Xmas n happy new year all the best tight lines bro your off to a great start I liked that film you did for just a bit of creak bashing you made it look great well done

Just need to learn to respect them not drag them across the rocks always wet your hands before handling fish to get a barrier between your skin and there's , but always Respect life and treat other forms of life as you would like to be treated if it was reversed, Brown trout can live upwards of 60 yrs , the enemy are big and little cormorants plus there parents ))
