Join me fly fishing an EPIC Snowy Mountains trout river, featuring some dry fly and euro nymphing action, amazing sight fishing, this one has it all. I can't believe I didn't know about this spot before now...... :)

Thanks! Yeah it’s a deadly technique no doubt about it. In hindsight I probably would’ve done better on the conventional rod if I’d tied a nymph on under the dry…. ;)

Great edit Steve. I am impressed with the quality of the DJI Action 4 especially how it picked up the fly line movement which can be difficult to catch. Let’s do it again sometime soon with a combination of Sony FX’s and DJI.

It's a tough river! You need to put your hiking shoes on and head way down ! Access becomes very difficult and limited that's why the fish have survived and thrived ! It ain't no thredbo or encumbene river accessible!

There is trout fishing within reach of Sydney, and lots of opportunities for other species too. I suggest you join the Sydney Flyrodders Club, that’ll get you started with spots etc. Hope to see you at a club meeting! :)

i would recomend a 4wd to get to a lot of good trout fishing places as it being inaccessible by anything else means that a lot less people can get there, the places that I have seen and caught trout are places you can only get to by 4wd

@@darcybettenay_mtb Much appreciate the advice. 4x4 is definitely on the shopping list. Funnily enough I managed to pull a couple of beauties out of the Cox's river right on the Glenroy campsite stretch on the dry a couple of weeks back. Fairly tough going though. Thanks mate :)

@@petermauder2191 if you have a famaily, get a older cruiser (80 series, 100 series 105 series) and get a desiel, when you push them offroad or towing the fuel economy will be affected less like 10l/100 less on a desiel when pushed hard, got a 105 with a 1hz and towing our 2t camper trailer offroad (2mks in an hour) we where getting 25l/100 and towing on the highway we get about 20l/100 and just dirveing without the van its about 14l/100 and our cruiser is heavily modified. hope this helps, and good luck

For me, humbly without offending, in that situation of still waters and small spaces it is better to apply a different strategy that puts the fish less on alert. The line coming and going puts them on alert. Or I would use a very long leader, 5 to 6 meters, or a nylon line, which are transparent and do not alter that type of water. Very small tipet nymphs, very fine, but the most important thing is that they would not go over the line. I think that with that in a place so loaded with fish, more catches would be obtained. Sincerely. Comentarios
@PeachyFlyFishing
@PeachyFlyFishing 3 күн бұрын
Thanks! Yes I agree, your strategy is spot on. From memory I was using a very long leader (around 5.5m) and very fine tippet (7x), it was still very hard to catch the fish except up in the moving water. There were quite a lot of people who had been walking along the river, a few fishing, the fish were already very alert, but in the end I just needed to fish better to catch them! Thanks for watching. :)

That’s terrible news! Was that to do with the culling they have announced or is it something else? Do you have a link to any info you could share?
@damo.77
@damo.77 3 ай бұрын
They say it will be closed due to culling for five months or there abouts but this will be only the start of whats to come. They want all national parks shut, same thing is slowly happening here in Vic unfortunately.

The npws have been wanted to close that area off for years.A ranger actually told me that. They can't stop people from walking or riding in. Or can they...?
@andrewtarlinton2440
@andrewtarlinton2440 3 ай бұрын
they can fine you for being in a national park when it is closed@@grahamnield7716Unfortunately the wild brumby situation has gotten out of control and the destruction of the natural environment can be seen everywhere. The temporary closure is to try to cull, which will be a good thing for the eco system and rivers. It is especially an issue up near long plain, close to where this video is shot (I believe)
