Something a little bit different: this one is both a video _and_a podcast, all in one! Listen to it, or watch it... or do both! The choice is entirely yours.
In Part 2 of my Cutting Edge Fishing Wisdom series on the absolute fundamentals of fishing with soft plastic or "rubber" lures, I dive deep into the various styles of soft plastics, what they're best used for, and the "presentation vehicles" such as jig heads, hooks and weights you'll need to successfully rig and present them in order to fool more fish. Oh, and if you're interested in tracking down some of Tom's 3D-printed resin head jigs, go to www.starlotackle.com
By the way, if you love this video/podcast and my channel, please consider shouting me a beer (or buying me a coffee!) to help me produce lots MORE great KZbin content for your viewing pleasure! To do so, simply go to: www.buymeacoffee.com/starlo
Thanks... and cheers!

Thanks steve great insight into the world of plastics. When you stand at the Wall of ten thousand varieties of lures at the tackle shop it can be a bit overwhelming. Why can't it just be like the old days where you only had six to choose from. Thanks for the insight mate, cheers.

This is fantastic content. As someone who is relatively new to fishing in general and fishing with soft plastics specifically, hearing the history and progression of the method brings a wealth of useful knowledge that will help me catch more fish.

Very instructive and informative Steve and really well produced. It’s great to have some understanding of the history of the development of soft plastics and their applications. As always I pick up a few tips to use when next on the water. Looking forward to the next instalment.

Enjoyed that Starlo as I don’t know much about soft plastics. I have a few prawn ones that have a wire trace attached I might give one of those a go during the week off the beach as Barra are feeding on small prawns at the moment. Might try one on a float one day too.😊

Ps best stuff for glass rattles in jig heads on any hook is the liquid steel in putty form brilliant to get a glass finish smear a bit of cooking oil on it when it sets or add a scent pouch or build into it I never put it on plastic can add dye as well .

@@StarloGetsReel I’m looking forward to using em! I cherish the few old squidgie res heads I still have and they are only used for special occasions! Usually when I’ve spotted a fish that is worth it but otherwise I don’t blind cast them for fear of a tailor or flatty, it’ll be different now they are available,in the shallow waters I mostly fish they will be first choice!
@needmoreboost6369

@@StarloGetsReel I’d never used the resins for flathead having only used them for bream and trevally, but I think on the flats with a tendency to suspend a bit longer might give an edge tempting lazier flathead. Edit- they are no joke, now my favourite heads by far! They are just excellent! I’m eating well tonight! Thanks!

How do the soft plastic lures stand up to the bite? Most on the market are PVC plastics. If bits are bitten by fish... We are reintroducing plastics into our oceans and into the bellies of fish.
@StarloGetsReel
@StarloGetsReel 9 ай бұрын
Yep, it's definitely an issue and something more and more manufacturers are addressing by moving to "biodegradable" materials.

@@StarloGetsReel Know what manufacturers do "biodegradable" That I can research and make an informed choice? My pay experience was with my dad who used lures, teasers/flies with bait and flies for fresh water. I live in the Anderson inlet so I feel like I am starting all over to find the right lures or fresh bait.
