That Carp fishing video was the one that showed me how much Steve knows about fishing.

Definately interested in trying out these fish bites up here in Sydney. If you get some sent over I'm keen to give them a crack. Cheers.

Glad it helped. If it's any consolation, the tough times NEVER go away, but we CAN slowly reduce them as we learn more. Tight Lines!

My late great uncle had a shack next to little pine. I remember going up there in winter and freezing our butts off. I've had good results with bettle deer hair dry flies from a boat on little pine back in the 90's. Fergus lake is worth a look as well.
@StarloGetsReel2 сағат бұрын
Cheers for that! I've never fished Fergus. I'll put it on the list!

As fisherman we sure do put ourselves in some horrible weather. But the rewards at times can be spectacular and the scenery can be amazing even in crap weather.

I admire your dedication. Fly caught trout especially in miserable weather, in my view, reflect amazing fishing skills and motivate fisherfolk to leave the heated lounge and enjoy the rewards in overcoming adverse conditions. On the other hand, no fish caught feeds the determination factor!

Living in tassie and growing up fishing the highlands , I have spent many a day like that and not even seen a fish but the clean air and the smell of the eucalypts always has me yearning for the next trip , love your short little clips mate tight lines 😊

I still love fishing but I can't say I'm that keen any more, certainly not keen enough to go out in THAT temperature. 😁 If I go fishing at all now it's nearly always in one of my kayaks.

Fishing does not suck and it isn't hard. I'll tell you why :- If I sit on the couch at home, drinking a beer, I'm a lazy bastard. If I sit on a river bank, soaking a bait and drinking a beer, I'm a sportsman because fishing is a sport. I also have the potential to become a world class spartsman depending on what I catch. Fishing is the best.
@StarloGetsReel19 сағат бұрын
Fair point!
@cozab54876 сағат бұрын
Completely disagree, that's just being a lazy fisherman lol, lots of people actively pursue achievement in fishing, and believe me, there's a hell of a lot more to it than sitting on a river bank drinking 😂
@FergHydeСағат бұрын
@@cozab5487 Oh 100% but what you call lazy, I call 'tradional' or 'efficient'. Either way, the results are often the same 🤷♀

As usual mate, a beautiful piece of production. Just looking over Lake Macquarie here now, a cold 13 degrees, windy and a crap tide, and I'm not going out in the yak! But then i look at you, and think of all the days i spent, through frost and snow on the Turon or the Fish Rivers, and i think, we are all bloody crazy! Cheers mate. I might just go for a quick flick after all.

Wow, it’s inspiring to see you still fish in this weather, Starlo! I guess there is no excuse for me not to get up fishing on a 10-degree morning in Sydney now. 😅
@anselmocatКүн бұрын
Great video but why does the guide throw the trout back in? He’s low enough to slide them and give them less shock and therefore more chance of surviving
@StarloGetsReelКүн бұрын
It does them no harm. A lot of times they jump higher than that - either when hooked, while leaping for flying insects such as damsel flies, or when ascending rapids to spawn. In some parts of North America trout are stocked into remote lakes by being dropped from low flying aircraft… with great success. People are sometimes a little bit too “precious” about fish. 😉

Gday Starlo, When I was living in Bermagui years ago and beach fishing every day, I was lucky enough for a local old timer to teach me how to catch beach worms and to fish exactly, just like you described..light rods with braid, read the gutters and dont try and cast to NZ ! Fishing success went up 100%..the old-timers' motto was to keep it simple! and if you were a fish were would you be feeding now on this beach. P.s. Watched you and Roger fishing together in your latest video, and you both should create more content together !
@StarloGetsReel2 күн бұрын
Thanks for that great feedback! Yes, Roger and I will definitely be doing more together, too. 👍

Companies like penn reels I’ve seen advertise the fact that braid has zero stretch. So You can now have potential to bend the main shaft in the reel so you have to buy our gear which is now all stainless steel internals because it’s stronger to handle the force put on it by braided line. And I think to myself hmmmmmmm…..
