I pulled a crappie off a nest one day that was big as a 12 inch pancake. I though he was a bass looking down at him but when i pulled him out he was tall as hell. Had to 4 pounds which is huge for an Ohio lake white crappie. i pulled that fish out three times before I actually caught him. i was on a steep bank with no net and pretty much yanking him straight to the bank. I couldn't keep a hold of the slimy thing. any way I was so impressed that mercy set in and i let him go.

what mr murphy doesnt realize is most fish dont spawn shallow, alot of little males go build nesta along the banks, hoping to get in on the action, but the mature females and males spawn deeper. I took me 15 years to learn this.. also, water temp doesnt matter, its the right water color, that is nutrient rich, not too clear,. not to muddy.
