For the most part the water snakes you'll see, are northern water snakes, redbelly water snakes, brown water snakes, and broad banded water snakes, all which are harmless

What can battle for about 25 minutes on a lightweight pole w 10 LB test in Michigan, then spit the hook. My guess is a snapping turtle 🐢? It stayed down. Current was strong. Fishing the slack current break on a very long dock. Didn't swim back & forth. It was at a new spot & I wonder if it is worth going back? It was in a river that flows into a bigger river & into the Saginaw Bay. It definitely didn't fight like a Carp. More like a Flathead. I doubt a Walleye would be big enough to fight like that. It wanted to stay down & stay in the middle of the river.

Hey! As a fellow Nebraska fisherman there’s a spot I can recommend, kellor state park has some amazing trout and bass fishinng the trout are stocked so not to big but you can eat them. The bass are mostly small mouth but there’s a few large mouth. There’s also catfish but there a bit harder to catch they would be channel ( not sure but there could be blues) if you could fish there some day it would be awsome as it’s one of my favorite places to fish and I’m always successful when I fish there !
