Hey big fella..bitta bad luck ...I go for a gummy or a whiskerie here .when I'm getting shafted .mind you our fishing Bottom of S A is a bit different..not as many palagics .some great schools mixed Tuna after new year ..within the week.. pros from Lincoln. ships. cages .attitudes .did us big time .we're not allowed snapper for another couple years ..pros quotas were a bit large couple years back ..we still get plenty whiting squid. But gots to travel further for bigger remedies. Etc etc .. Love the pros .

At least you guys get to keep some sharks. In the Maldives there’s a blanket ban on all sharks. We scream and shout about it but the bleeding hearts always cry and win. You can’t even take a photo with a shark before release without someone whining about it. Sad days for anglers

Sammy tough session mate, the sharks are out of control. You have a great profile and plenty of contacts to make this problem known to the Qld state government and opposition. We need to get them to listen and make some plans to deal with the shark problem for the whole fishing industry.

We managed to get onto a fair few fish on Tuesday, stayed in close tho and managed to evade all the sharks, heard the other boys were struggling landing anything out deeper though

Yeeeep, the sharks are creaming everything up and down the coast atm, I parked up on a school of mulloway i found on the sounder a few nights back, got two hookups in 20 minutes, both sharked within 30 seconds. The school understandably cleared out shortly after.This is south of Sydney so its not a QLD issue thats for sure.

Could they be large puffer fish biting the line off? I've been having it it happening to me off Sydney last few weeks. Even on my electric reel. Biting the line off with 50m to go to the top. They chase the bubble trail the line/swivels leave. Grrr.

@@liamwindsor5854 i know guys whom have been fighting marlin and got them to the leader and seen mass of toads come up and bite the line clean off chasing the bubble trail frim the swivel. I've been at Brown's Mountain deep dropping 600m and had them bite me off at the top watched them do it. Grrr. 100lb braid. Their a pest at time's here off Sydney.

You are allowed to capture and kill sharks 5 in total according to the dpi nsw. Size limits do apply and some are protected not all. So how come you just don't capture the shark. Its just as fun as catch and release on those marlin you chase. If you get one you like say a mako is the best, they are good eating. It will make a good episode 'revenge on the sharks'. You can also explore good recipe to cook them. Soak the meat in milk and curry can be aamazing meal.

Hey mate, we are in QLD, we can only keep sharks under 1.5m and believe me they are actually pretty hard to find that small!! If I do catch a small one I generally keep it. They are great eating 👌👌

Yak boy here, yeah we don't get sharked too often on the yaks but occasionally it happens and when it does, it's a bit more scary I guess as we're sitting very close to the water.

I’m a charter mate out of North Carolina and our yellowfin fishing is world class but the sharks last 6-7 years have been absolutely terrible. It’s nothing to get 20+ bites through the day and maybe get 2-5 whole fish to the boat it’s INSANE you’re fully allowed to complain about them 😂

I have no issue with a balanced ecosystem containing sharks. It’s when there is a very large imbalance and the top level predator gets protected things start to get a little out of hand.

Went to the channel markers out of the Brisbane river today...managed 3x 1m plus sharks to the boat, not to mention the dozen or so bust offs!🦈 Something needs to be done about this before attacks become common place at our beaches. Or is that what it'll take? Commonsense needs to prevail.

It's not just there, I fish in the Gulf of Carpentaria and we have days where the sharks literally follow you around and circle your boat even when you are not fishing. Bring back large scale commercial shark fishing, there's an over supply of sharks and a market for several products from them, it will also hurt the illegal shark fishing as a happy by-product.

I had a surfer dude laugh at me when I said I didn't go surfing anymore 😂 There is clearly a shark problem that fishermen have been screaming out for years and it's not getting any better, there clearly is an imbalance in nature and shark attacks unfortunately will have to become a common thing before anyone does a thing about it. Mate... your not alone. Every one of your fish got sharked,,, Not a couple, EVERYONE...This all started when UNESCO and the WHO lobbied coles/woolies etc to remove flake off the menu.. The quota got cut. The demand plummeted and shark boats closed up. Now all those 1M MODELS are big and hungry. I am up Cairns and we can hardly bottom fish anymore. If i take the kids to the beach we nail one 1 M shark and take it home. If you bleed em, gut em, trunk em, Fin em. then fillet and cut into thin strips and soak in milk 4 hrs. Then cook up as you normally fry up fish and they are as good as any fish.. And definately wont grow up to take your fish... This problem is everywhere (WA, QLD NSW. NT) When fisheries QLD did the Spanish Mackerel study, shark predation wasnt taken into account, You just caught NO mackerel in 2 days, so there are NO mackerel out there. Thats how the study went down.... They are doing the same thing for Nannygai up my way now... Its a JOKE, We will all be selling our boats and eating imported catfish soon enough the way its going with the GREENIES and their closures and ENDANGERED Sharks....

@@SammyHitzkeFishing Nothing will change now.. Just like the Spanish MAC. 1pp for good, Sharks over 1.5m must be released, Can only keep 1 shark less than 1.5m per boat. This problem will only get worse. No commercial shark fishery left, and all the pups are now monsters that love following boats getting spanish mac and reds.. Watch fishing the wild in NT pro mac fishos, They have 10-20 bullsharks following them constantly.. off the charts stuff, thats what we can expect soon.

Licensed shooters are allowed to use a power pole/ shotgun cartridge pole for safety reasons in QLD. If more Licensed firearms owners were safely handling and releasing dangerous Sharks?
