That's a very difficult question because it all depends on the situation and location and weather and...😄 But being a pond hopper you have to go with YUM and Strike King. Rapala has came back due to Crush City because those are just great soft plastics for many use. The ZOOM black finesse worms have caught my PB but their fluke is still the standard for what that bait is supposed to be

The original Rapala floating lure will dive slightly on a steady retrieve. It shines when slow trolling for fish of of a 3 way swivel and sinker combo. It’s not the best casting lure since it’s made of balsa wood. Once you move up to the Rapala 18 floater, it casts well and will dive.

The rapala original floating minnow is best fished with a steady slow to medium retrieve bro.

@LoganAndersonFishing yes its a shallow running bait though lol. I feel the dt series and husky jerk are more popular sellers these days over the floating minnow. But the floating minnow is killer in shallow water and creeks. They also make a count down version of the minnow which sinks.

It doesn't matter where I'm fishing, what conditions, water conditions, or anything else. I always have a Rapala Original Floater F11 silver tied on. Put a size 2 split ring on the front and switch the hooks for gamagatsu size 6 round bend trebbles. I've caught more fish on that bait than all other baits. Also, throw the size 9 on 10 pound braid with fluro leader on a spinning rod. Much better.

I’ve never had any luck but you ought to try out the donkey rig with Zoom flukes. It looks like it would catch some wintertime fish! Plus my favorite lure brand is Gary Yamamoto and it’s their 5 inch senko!!

All great fish catching lures but my number one killer lure that works when all else fails, is the Zman TRD in the Green Pumkin/ Orange color with a 1/8oz ned rig jighead . When my buddies up here in Canada are catching nothing, I always bring them in the boat. I have never gotten skunked since I started using the Zman TRD.

I agree with you a million percent about the War Eagle spinner bait. Although when I used to snag and lose one it would only cost me about $6 and a trip to Walmart. Now they are going for around $9 where I live.

You had the dinger rigged upside down. That slit is to hide the hook tip so you don't have to texpose it.

I love Rapala because they make the BEST trailers/soft swim baits via their Crush City brand along with their traps and cranks. I would definitely go YUM over GYB all day everyday just because of my experience using both brands of stick baits. But Z Man has the best chatter baits and War Eagle has the best spinner baits, in my humble opinion

Great job catching those cold water wintertime bass! You have proven that bass will bite any brand any technique you just need to find what they want any given day. My favorite brands are Rapala and Berkley. Favorite baits are moving reaction baits. Crankbaits, spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, and anything topwater.

Enjoy the video but I second the comment from the person saying you need a pfd or life jacket on. You kept talking about the cold. Water temp was probably low 40’s and once you hit the water it’s shock, then your clothes get weighted down and you can’t kick or swim. Trust me, as the dad of a search and rescue swimmer, would like to see you around to make more videos. Winter is definitely a different story than summer

For example, the limited edition Jackall top water lure you used a while ago, the sideways fish one, whereas American brands all copy each other and just do a worse or slightly better version of it. try a Neko rig using nail weight and a Neko hack by Geecrack with the nories or just free rig them and the deps.
