Here I show you how to set up the Anysun underwater camera (similar to Eyoyo underwater camera) or any similar camera. I show you how you can make an easy DIY cord mounting system (tripod/panner/cord positioning system) which will work to control any underwater camera. I show you how to use it to get some cool underwater fishing videos and I wrap up with some tips and tricks that I learned while using the the cheapest underwater fishing camera (Anysun underwater camera).

I just made a video reviewing the eyoyo underwater camera. If you're interested you can find that video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iH20gGylfbN8rdk

I also use an old fishing rod with black tip up string on it tied to a 1 oz. sinker for lining up the camera. Drop it down and find the black string with the camera, makes it way faster and easier to setup. I'll also use the camera pointing straight down kind of like a flasher if I want to hole hop.

Get a piece of neon string line (used for construction layout) from the hardware store and tie on your big sinker. Comes on a roll or you can wrap the length you need around a stick. It might even fit inside the camera box so its ready to go but out of the way. Designed to be highly visible and easy to wrap up and re-use. Can also put color coded ribbons on the string to measure depth.

Thanks for the video. I appreciate a new user approach. While there is merit for expert user reviews in comparing units this is what I am looking for. Knowing that it works and enhances the fishing experience is the bottom line. Thanks again!

I have the same (non-recording) type of underwater camera. You did a very good job demonstrating how it works. One thing on my camera I found fishing deeper, darker water is that the UW light reflects so brightly off of any particles in the water that is almost unusable (even with the contrast adjusted as low is it will go.) The light might be okay in super clear water but I didn't have any clear lakes to test it in. Initially I had to almost forget about trying to fish in order to get the camera to produce useful images (and I usually fish inside a dark tent.) Despite my criticisms I found that once I figured out how to use the camera it was great to be able to see the fish and how they react to my lures. Bottom line, it's a pain in the butt to figure it out but it's worth it. Thanks for the video!
@BackroadsAngling

I was also having trouble in water that was only semi-clear. The image quality isn't the best but it is good enough to make out fish and see them interacting with your lure. The lithium battery on mine seems to have lost much of it's battery life - this could be due to not using it for 4-6 months. Thanks for watching!

Every company panner is junk. Plastic junk. I have been doing what you show here for years now. Your system can not fail you out there. I keep my Marcum in my 5 gallon bucket and flip it over and it's ready to work.Good video

I've always been curious about the aqua-vu panner. They usually make good products so my expectation is that the panner might be decent. The 5 gallon bucket trick works pretty well. Thanks!
@abc-yv2js
@abc-yv2js 3 ай бұрын
@@BackroadsAngling I cut a 1/4 inch slit from the top of the bucket to the bottom and then over to the middle of the bottom so the cable is centered in the middle of the bucket. The panners work for awhile but they quit. If you find a clip item for sealing plastic bags that you open, if the clip doesnt crimp the cable much, that works well for adjusting the camera position.

That is a great setup. Not perfect, but a cool tool. I'm going to incorporate your bucket idea, it seems like you could rig it so you use the bucket for the box/screen on top, and rotate the bucket to move the camera. Great ideas! Thanks for the review.

@BackroadsAngling 2 жыл бұрын
I saw the bucket idea in another video and I think it works pretty well. Your idea also sounds interesting. The raw footage from the camera looks a lot better. I just need to figure out a better way to convert the AVI files and that should improve the viewing experience. I'm working on it! Thank you!

Cool, have fun! I've noticed the life of my lithium battery is a lot less this year. I left it sitting on the shelf for 6 months during open water season and didn't use it. I think with lithium batteries they go bad if you don't drain or charge them for a long period of time. I recommend discharging or charging the battery every so often even if you aren't using it.

A more compact "tripod" setup is a plastic frisbee and a tennis ball both cut to accommodate the camera cord.

I'm surprised gopro hasn't gotten into the underwater camera market. They have the waterproof technology already in place. The 4k gopro footage is amazing and it would blow away all of these underwater cameras (I think this one is ~780p). You have to get an Aqua vu HD7i to even get 1080p. So don't get your hopes up too high for the quality compared to what it looks like when you put your gopro down there! But at least you can watch the fish come eat! Thanks!
@FishingWithZach
@FishingWithZach 2 жыл бұрын
@@BackroadsAngling yea im suprised they haven't either! I seen someone rig an underwater case where they could attach a cable to the gopro to their phone and watch it live. I could tell it's not as clear but watching live would be sweet.

You will have to either buy a tripod or make a DIY tripod similar to what I made in the video. If you just drop the line down the hole it is hard to control it.

Definitely is handy to have one, I own 2 similar camera like that and they the avi file is really annoying for sure.
@BackroadsAngling
@BackroadsAngling 2 жыл бұрын
Ya I'm still debating whether to send it back due to the avi file issue. The footage gets a lot more pixelated once I convert it. I saw the eyoyo camera that many are using. It is $260-270 for the one that records. I'm not sure what the file type is but people seem to be sharing decent footage with that one. I would get an aqua vu 715c but you need a recording device and you have to power said recording device which is really a deal breaker for me right now. The last thing I need is one more thing to charge while I'm out on the ice. Thanks for watching!

Do you think this would work for kayak fishing?
@BackroadsAngling
@BackroadsAngling Жыл бұрын
I think so if you are stationary and have enough room to set it up in the kayak. You would have to get the hang of how to rotate it and control its direction but I think it would be possible. It might be useful for examining structure, etc.

I want one of these but Colorado sun is so obnoxiously bright. I can never see my phone or laptop or gps or truck stereo either. Especially with polarized glasses. Got to take the sunglasses off. Anybody know who has the brightest display? I may have to go with a flasher since they seem to have a brighter display.
@BackroadsAngling
@BackroadsAngling Жыл бұрын
The sun is definitely an issue with this one and most underwater cameras I think. If you have a pop up shelter you can solve this problem but if not it will be difficult. A higher end Aqua Vu or Marcum camera will give you a better chance of success.

@@BackroadsAngling yea kind of lame how they cant figure out how to put the perfect underwater camera together. Either you get a small screen with dvr or a large screen with no dvr, or this mess of cables on with 7in dvr at a budget. Otherwise aqua vu and marcum are over the top for their prices for their nice ones.

I was curious about the super sketchy and super cheap $20 underwater camera. It's understandable why you'd ignore those but did they interest you at all?
@BackroadsAngling
@BackroadsAngling Жыл бұрын
I think the ones you are describing don't have a screen that allows you to watch what you are recording while the camera is underwater. They are really cheap versions of a gopro. This one is the cheapest I could find that has a computer screen. They do make a cheaper version for around $100 but that one only allows you to view and not record which is not ideal for me.

You'd probably have a lot more control over the camera if you tied a string to the back side of it and moved it like a puppet. Cool piece of gear though.
@BackroadsAngling
@BackroadsAngling 2 жыл бұрын
The bucket contraption works really good to position the camera. The bigger problem is finding water that is clear enough to get good footage. I'm not sure if the quality of the camera is making this issue worse or not.
