Yeah, so try fluorocarbon usually 8-12 lbs. That knob behind the reel handle is meant to be adjusted until your bait/lure falls at a steady rate and the braking system on the other side should be set at the max setting when you first start casting and take your time and practice

Sounds like it has a centrifugal braking system. Try to see if it has a removable side plate and look inside on the spool. Its possible it does and its dirty.

I bought this reel a week ago. I got a total of MAYBE 25 casts out. It won’t even reel anymore. Bearings are GONE. Did the same sound as yours before they went out

Sounds like it just needs oiling. Who knows til you try it. I had an Okuma reel that did that when it got dry. Good video thanks for the review.

Sounds like my president xt after 2 years once it started doing that it was about a month later it locked up took it apart cleanedit put it back together and didn't help it at all, I'd take that back or throw it in the garbage immediately lol.

The reel needs to be oiled or cleaned, that's the sound. On my piscifun Spark Pro, it made that noise and I oiled it and it was fine

Sometimes if your line is to full it can cause the thumb tab to get stuck. If it's not that then it's definitely the reel lol

Wait, I have to pause real quick because you keep speaking of Ozark Trail as a walmart fishing brand, and continue to talk on the reputation of their fishing stuff, when they JUST came out with the new gear this year. They had outdoor gear yes, and some glasses, gloves, n such for fishing. But the LURES and the REELS are new to this year haha. Reels are garbage, but lets give the lures a chance.

Their reels have been out for a few years now. I have 7 of their spinning reels 5 of the white ones and 2 of the new ones. I've fished them extremely hard and so far no issues at all out of any of them. For $16 they're a hell of a deal. Haven't tried the baitcasters yet but planning on getting one soon.

Also caught several fish on their crankbaits last fall. I'm extremely impressed with them. So far they've all ran true right out of the box. Picked up a few of the jerkbaits last week. My local store only has 2 colors in the jerkbait so I'm planning on painting a few and seeing how they do.
