The Dominican Republic, with its tropical climate, doesn't have naturally occurring populations of Rainbow Trout in its freshwater systems. However, there are some exceptions. In certain areas of the country where there are colder microclimates or higher elevations, such as the mountains of the Cordillera Central, there have been efforts to introduce Rainbow Trout for recreational fishing purposes. These introductions are often associated with specific Trout farms, private fishing reserves, or controlled environments where water conditions mimic those suitable for the species. So, while Rainbow Trout are not native to the DR, it's possible to find them in limited, controlled environments established for recreational fishing purposes.
