How much drag were you running on the 1st fish that smoked you ? Sounded like a Twinpower SW reel ?

Yeah drag was pretty tight and I tightened it several times whilst the fish was on. It's a Twin Power SW which has a very loud drag

Your 1st fish was a big snapper ,Probably 15+ but like all amateurs, you didn't tighten your Drag enough and inevitably, It took you around a rock, that what snappers do in New Zealand. I think New Zealand snappers are smarter than Australian Whippersnappers
