This is the 3.0 VM Diesel used on Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ram Pick-up and Maserati... I think that the great experience of VM Motori in marinized engines, will be good for the reliability...

@@CFG39 years ago they offered the 3.0 TDI, after, for a while, both the options (V6 VW and V6 VM) and now only the VM. The aesthetic difference was in the TDI writing on the plastic cover.

Well this is great news the Americans are starting to think economy too having a huge industrial capacity n the biggest market for recreational boating they are best placed to influence things in the right direction only ever had one Mercury a 50HP 4 cylinder outboard in the early 70s bought SH n i loved that engine the best of all outboards i had really super/smooth n reliable but this new diesel is a marvel 270 HP from a 3 Litre diesel is AMAZING TO THINK MY 3L V6 Essex FORD (WELL MARINIZED BY CASTOLTI JET Modena Italy) had 120 HP n it was very THIRSTY in comparison Great job Mercury

Personally a pair of V6 200hp verados would be my pick... reliability of twins, tons of power & 80+kmh top end.. might burn an extra $40 in a days fishing but big deal.

LSA711 they don’t make 6 cylinders verados they are V8’s. Also it was not a v6 it was a inline 6.

Thatblueguy - Mate what are you talking about?? The new Mercury 4stroke outboard is a 3.4L V6 in 175hp, 200hp and 225hp?? The v8 is the 250hp, 300hp.

the twin setup burns 70% more fuel. your maths works if your round trip is 27km (and who does just that?), assuming petrol and diesel are both $1.50/L. Add in double service costs and your big deal is a whole lot bigger.

LSA711 sorry I’m late to reply: they do make v6 four strokes in the 175 hp to 225 hp. However the new verado only comes in 250 and 300 hp, which are v8’s. Except for the 350 verado

i cannot see how 2 big petrol outboards n a well build 6 cylinder diesel inboard will only cost $40 extra a day to run, as for reliability i take the single diesel inboard any day on top a 30 footer inboard is just that 30feet but a 30 footer outboard is Not is at least 33 foot overall, so size for size an inboard for me has more not less room inside it

That full length duckboard would be great for island hopping, snorkeling and spearfishing. Price with a bravo 3?

They didn’t quote a price at the test day. A Northbank Mercury dealer like Melbourne Marine Centre could do it for you
