Thoughts on garlic powder in groundbait mix?
@FishingwithDen3 жыл бұрын
There is no reason why Garlic Powder cannot be tried. My only suggestions would be as follows: 1. Test the final mix in a container of water before you use it. That way you can check that the ball still breaks down correctly. 2. Experiment with the strength of the flavour. Too much could put the fish off and too little may have no real effect.

Hi Den how would you approach lake with a lot carp about 10lb and bream. But there are carp top 30lb max hook size 10 as it fished like a match lake. I like to fish with waggler or cage feeder what strength hook length and main line would you go with. I'm from Northants if know the county cheer Den Lee

Hi Lee. I'm originally from Coventry. Are you by any chance talking about Drayton Reservoir? I'm afraid, without knowing the venue you are talking about, I could send you down the wrong path. Having said that I match fish a similar venue where I have caught Carp to 26lbs, but the others range from a few ounces to say 7 or 8lbs. For me, I have been using 6lb Guru Dragline as the main line, but this is where we end up with a discussion about line diameters. 6lb Drag Line is 0.25mm, but if you look at other lines of that diameter, they claim a breaking strain of between 10 and 12lbs. As for hook lengths, I usually go down a little in breaking strains, but how much depends on what I expect to catch. I know I have rambled on a bit here, but I hope I have given you some idea of what I use.😃👍

Noticed the cat in the background well worth trying a little mix of cat food too. I like mixing micro pellets and groundbait with what ever bait I am using at the time. Well explained vid once more!

Thanks Phillip. I'm happy to try different ingredients, but, as I say, I always test them in the tank first, to see how they make the balls react. By the way, that Cat is a 15 year old Dog mate. 🤣🤣👍

For cheapness praps try some bran and rolled oats, both around 50p/kg in 20kg sacks from horse feed suppliers, there’s usually one fairly local

You can Riddle the old corn out of the Groundbait prior to Freezing it. Or, the Groundbait will need to be Riddled when thawed out anyway as it often goes Lumpy so either way is good!! Then just add NEW Corn again if you want.

@FishingwithDen3 жыл бұрын
Lol. I was going to make a ball maker, but in the end I just printed out a range of different sized groundbait punches, because I can use them with one hand instead of needing two.😃👍
@loursb3 жыл бұрын
@@FishingwithDen There are ball makers that can be used with one hand, the plunger type. A big puch works well on making small cilinders to chuck. At least where I fish the aquatic life does not mind the geometry 😄
