Best reel on the market for the price. I prefer the Alijos over the Tranx and Lexa HD. I use it for Swimbaits and the breaking system is awesome. I took apart the Lexa and the Alijos and you can’t tell the difference. This is a phenomenal reel

Thanks so much for the comment @RyanSmith-fb8rf!! I 100000% agree with you... it really is an awesome reel!!! I have been trying beat the tar out of this thing for a while now and its just an amazing reel, especially for that price... its amazing how good some of the reels are from other companies and how much less you pay for non brand fishing gear....

It just goes to show you how much you have to pay for name brands these days!! LOVE THIS REEL... PISCIFUN seems to be a really standup great company... I have really enjoyed their products!! Yeah a powerhandle is so awesome, haha if I have the choice, I am always going powerhandle... haha Thanks so much for the comment!!!

@@Johnnyfishalot i want to buy the 400 size. i wonder if they make a clamp for it. or if the lexa400 clamp will fit it..
@Johnnyfishalot22 күн бұрын
@@TM-ti3md Yeah I'm not sure to be honest... I actually do not own the 400... It doesn't look like PISCIFUN makes a clamp for that reel though... you'd probably have to buy one and fit it on...You'll probably just have to do some trial and error though... I'm 100% with ya though... clamps are the way to go... nothing worse than the reel seat unscrewing on you as you fight a big fish... Let me know how it goes... I'd be curious to see if there is a perfect fit for that reel or even the 300 for that matter... Thanks again!!

I picked up an Alijoz 300 in the lower gear ratio just for fluke and blackfish. Love the extra switch to lock the reel when the depth changes. Perfect reel paired with a Jigging World Nexus MH rod. IT handle big blues with no issue. Couldn't be happier.

Nice pick! The Alijoz 300 is a beast! Glad to hear you’re loving it with that rod combo. Tight lines out there!

by the way I forgot to mention before... I also pair this with the Nexus... what a GREAT Combo... Brilliant minds think alike!!! haha glad to hear you loving the Alijoz, I've been quite impressed with it, I have to say. Such a versatile reel. Gotta love it.

So, is it safe to say that using that reel with 16oz Cod jig in the deep waters of Massachusetts, wouldn't be an issue?? Great video !!
@Johnnyfishalot2 ай бұрын
Thanks so much Alex... really appreciate you tuning in and for the nice comment. I haven't fished for cod with this reel, but I was trolling with 32 oz mojos with the reel as well as catching those big black drum in heavy current. I would say it would be a really good choice for 16oz deep drops for Cod in MA... I would recommend it. It was a big fish reel made for heavy fishing applications, so definitely in the reel's wheel house. The only thing I would advise is to get the lower gear ratio, as I mentioned in the video, you'll want as much torque as possible... The other thing I would recommend is to make sure you get every yard of line you can on that reel without overspooling it (you never know what you'll get with offshore fishing). Years ago I bought a Avet JX for deep drop fishing seabass on offshore rockpiles 300-400 ft with up to a pound and a half of lead and that was a 4:1:1 with a 800 yard line capacity with 50lb braid. If your fishing DEEP for any fish over 500ft, I'd recommend getting a reel with more line capacity at low gear ratios. A full spool of 40lb braid is about 620ft on the alijoz 300 (about 210 yards) which is really good... like I said in the video, that extra 25 yards they were able to sneak in there is super useful ;) But if your dropping really 500ft or so, you'll want to give yourself some breathing room with the line capacity. I've gone cod fishing and never fished that deep, but not sure where you'll be targeting them out of MA, so just wanted to make those few extra points. I think for 16oz deep drop fishing for cod, you'll be golden with the Alijoz 300 reel... If you get one make sure to write me back and let me know how you liked it ;) Thanks so much for the comment and the question. I love talking fishing, as you can tell... haha Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks so much and good luck out there cod fishing!!!

is that a medium heavy rod you are using with this reel?
@Johnnyfishalot2 ай бұрын
Great question... that is actually a custom rod... that rod is moderate action and Medium power. Rod is designed for big fish which it handles beautifully... ITs a great combo! The power is just how easy it is to bend the rod and the action is how much or where the rod bends... so fishing with bait like this and casting heavy lures / weights the medium power and moderate action is perfect for me and what I'm using this for. I hope that helps! let me know if you have any questions.

I wonder how the size 400 is?
@Johnnyfishalot2 ай бұрын
I've never used the 400 to be honest... It is a bigger reel, it holds more line capacity which is great, has all the same features BUTTTTT doesn't come with a slower gear ratio... so for me doing a lot of that heavy fishing I showed in the video, I actually prefer the lower gear ratio for deep drop fishing, trolling, or bottom fishing in heavy current for big fish... Though.... I haven't used the 400... Maybe that will be the next reel I test out and let you know how it is... thanks so much for the watching and the comment. really appreciate it!!

Anybody know if the 300 would be good enough for fishing monster catfish out of the Tennessee river, or should I go with the 400 series? It would be paired with a 7'6" medium heavy rod.
@JohnnyfishalotАй бұрын
@4WDJeepDriver hey jeep driver thanks for the question... yeah you'll be 100% good for the catfishing! I'd go with that slower gear ratio reel to give you some extra torque but that reel will handle those fish fine. I you watch some of my black drum videos we're catching 50 - 80lb drum in ripping RIPPING ocean currents reel was great ever time and we put some heat on those fish! Hope that helps! Let know if you have any questions! Thanks!

@@Johnnyfishalot "go with that slower gear ratio reel " doesn't tell me which series to buy. Alijoz 300 reel comes in 5.9:1, 6.6:1 and 8.1:1 ratios while the 400 series come in 6.6:1, and 8.1:1 gear ratios. I'm leaning towards the 400 at 6.6:1 The 300 at 5.9:1 seems too slow... my arm would fall off if I hooked a big blue cat.
@JohnnyfishalotАй бұрын
@4WDJeepDriver hahaha sorry about that @4wdjeepdriver that's what I get for texting you so late... haha So, to be clear... my recommendation is the 300 alijoz 5:9:1... that gives you extra torque for your big cats! And if your dropping at depth with heavier weights it won't feel like your arm will fall off haha... if you think that 5:9:1 is a little slow for your taste than my second recommendation would be the alijoz 300 6:6:1.... my preference for big fish fishing is the slower ratios so I get more torque... but that would be my recommendation. The 300 alijoz reel has done great for me in heavy current situations using 8oz lead bottom fishing for big BIG drum... I really like it and would recommend it. I hope that helps a little better than my first response haha

Hi Johnny, the reel with the red is the 5.9:1 ratio. That gold is 6.6 or 8.1. However, you got it right in the picture heading of this video. Red is 5.9:1.

I don’t think that’s how you pronounce their name 😂 Also, people need to realise that you don’t need to spend millions on fishing reels. You can but you don’t need to! One of my favourite reels is a Gomexus LD50. They are a very affordable slow pitch jigging reel and they are as good or better than some reels that cost 2 or 3 times as much!
@JohnnyfishalotАй бұрын
Hey @officialwwm... sorry for the delay, work is a bit busy lately. Maybe surprising, but yes, PEE - C - Fun is actually how you pronounce it. I am in contact with the company and literally asked them how to correctly pronounce their name. haha... Yeah I also agree if you don't go brand name you can save a ton on fishing reels and get excellent qualify. I have heard a lot about Gomexus reels, however, I have not ever used one personally myself. I should buy one just to beat it up and see how it holds up to an ocea jigger. Thanks so much for the comment. really appreciate it. Hopefully you enjoyed the video!! Thanks for all the support.

Piscifun reels are made in China, make your own conclusions
@Johnnyfishalot13 күн бұрын
Hey @yanshtublberg725... Thanks for the feedback. SOOOO Many Reel manufacturers have the majority of their reel production from China. Beloved PENN reels are all made in China except the Senator and International reels (a super small quantity of their overall reels). Very Very few Shimanos are made in Japan (Stella is one of the last remaining reels still made in Japan), but most are now made in Malaysia and China. The famed Curados, STradics, Sustains, etc are all made in Malaysia and China... Even High end reels like Van Staals are made in china (very good and durable reels by the way)... Companies like Pflueger, KastKing, Abu Garcia, Penn, and Diawa reels are all making the majority of the reels in China. Diawa reels are the exact same. A matter of fact PISCIFUN uses the same manufacturing factory in china as Diawa does. The reels are also built with similar heavy duty but light weight metal materials which make the reels so desirable. The important aspect of fishing reel manufacturing has nothing to do with where the reel is actually made, but has everything to do with product material control, reel design, and quality control of the manufacturing/final products themselves. For good companies this all comes from the parent company. Companies like Penn, Shimano, Diawa, and of course PISCIFUN all have very strict quality controls to make sure the best products are reaching the markets for consumers. I hope that helps some of the confusion there.
@phillymanpete2 ай бұрын
C'mon Johnny. This is Chinese crap made with slave labor. I had one and the reel literally fell apart (stripped the gear and bent the body) on a 40 pound striper. You get what you pay for and this is not it.
@Johnnyfishalot2 ай бұрын
Hey Phil... Always a pleasure to hear from.. thanks so much for watching... I love the different feedback, so sincere thank you. I disagree though... Like I said in the video I bought this reel myself been using it for two years a lot of which was with Tom on Fishin Fever and we've beat the heck out of this thing and its still golden... you saw the size of the stripers and the black drum we were catching with and you know me and Tom, we use "murder: drag where we really put some heat on those fish and that reel has been perfect for me... I will also say it is not a Chinese company its HQ is in Wisconsin and their manufacturing of parts is no different from Shimano, Penn, or Diawa. A matter of fact even though their main factory is in China, it is in the same factory as Diawa makes their reels. Also, PENN and SHimano also make their reels in china, so where its made isn't really a big deal, its the manufacturing standards these companies put on the reels that matter. You pay extra money, however, for the name Shimano, Penn, and Diawa, but this company has kept prices down for the same quality of products... a matter of fact, many of PISCIFUN's reels are not only made in the same factory, but are also made from the same exact material as the diawa reels. The Carbon X is the same materials as the super popular Diawa Tatula and the Viper X is made from the same materials as the Diawa Fuego... Definitely some qualify put into these reels. The difference in the PISCIFUN Alijoz is all those awesome features (like the thumb-bar release) in those reels that makes it so versatile and useful that I have really enjoyed. I don't recommend things unless I've used them and continue to use them with a lot of success. This has been a home run reel for me. To pick this up at $75 dollars is an absolute steel. Not sure why or how you were able to strip the gear and bend the body on this reel (on a striper no less), but this reel has handled 60 - 80lb black drum in immense current with absolutely no problem on Tom's boat, at "murder" drag. Reel has been bullet proof for 2 years running now. What model did you have? the Alijoz 300? Maybe you got a lemon? Also PISCIFUN has a one year warranty on all their reels, so hopefully they were able to repair it or send you a new... let me know... Thanks again for all the support with the channel, sorry we weren't able to get out fishing this year. Maybe next year! Thanks again Phil.
