The live performance is even better than the albums official audio. And this recording is even greater than that because it was their last live performance and after this the singer died about 3 months later from a heart attack. I was so sad when I found out he died in its own way this performance is a tribute for him R.I.P. Shinji Sato we miss you.

it wasnt heart failure. that is something that they say culturally in public obituaries to avoid giving details of certain peoples personal life when it involves the reality of suicide.

A lot of bassists are turned down unnecessarily and the music suffers for it, but this being a farewell concert for the bassist they had him cranked. The result: one of the greatest live performances of all time. Sato too, a lot of artists fade away. They never make anything that approaches their peak for decades afterward. He left everything he had on his last stage, even most legends never got that. It's still tragic that he died, but he showed his full fucking potential. If this wasn't it then he would have been easily the greatest to take a stage.

This is pure, this is a masterpiece. I hate the fact that I did not come across this before but I love that I am not dying without knowing this song staying in my memory for ever. I am lucky to hear this and live to share it with other music lovers. Thank you Fishmans, you are a gift to the world.

On December 28th, 1998, Minato, Tokyo, Fishmans performed their last concert with its leader and vocalist, Shinji Sato, before his death on March 15th, 1999 at the age of 33. This live performance would pass to history as one of the greatest achievements ever seen in modern music.

Thanks for this post. 60yrs old. Seen a lot of shows over the years, starting in 1974. Really wish I could have seen this. Anyone else need to swap right to left, on their headphones to get the correct soundstage? Also. The drum solo that starts's around 14:00, too bad the drum mix level was so low. Not the fault of the Poster.

Could someone familiar with Japanese music (or with Fishmans/UA) answer my question? "I googled and found that UA participated in some parts of the original recording of Long Season. Since I'm new to Japanese music and not familiar with Japanese, the band members, or UA's voice and appearance, it's difficult to distinguish where UA's parts are present in the original track and if she is involved in this version. But I'm quite curious...
@@吉岡大成-m9p Please don’t feel sorry for replying in Japanese, I really appreciate it. I understood your reply by using a translator. I think that UA and Shinji Sato’s voices sound similar, too… I’ve been trying to listen to more of Fishmans and UA’s music recently, and I hope to be able to distinguish them more clearly soon. Feeling kinda warm to have received your reply. Wish you have a wonderful day!
