Fishmans was not a major artist in Japan, but rather a niche artist in a subculture that was popular with a certain segment of the population. And the people who attended Fishmans' live performances had good taste in clothes. I was kind of happy about that at the time.

I remember when I first heard this album, I had a very important exam the next day. I was panicking and anxious, had trouble sleeping. At night, I flipped through the albums I had on my phone and found this, figured I'd give it a whirl. I laid there for 35 minutes without opening my eyes, fully conscious but absolutely at ease. It was the first album I heard all the way through, without pausing even once. Once it was over, there wasn't a hint of anxiety. I knew I was going to ace that fucking exam and I did.

This album makes me feel...well, it's really difficult to pin down a concrete description of what this song makes me feel because it's not about anything concrete like most songs, it's just feelings translated into musical form. It's so frustratingly abstract to articulate and yet, that's also what makes it so engaging. But if I had to say, I'd say this: it reminds me of an old memory, a very, very old childhood memory, that I'd forgotten about. It's not necessarily about anything important. A memory I haven't thought about in years and a memory I didn't even know existed that laid dormant in the deepest recesses of my mind, something that'd been there with me all this time but I hadn't even realized it. A memory in a distant childhood, lost in time, a memory that almost seems like it belongs to someone else. It's eerie but not scary. It's eerie and yet, strangely comfortable.

I unfortunately cannot get along with this song anymore, even thought I love it so much. I am at a pretty low state at the moment, Idk if its depression, but its definetly not happiness, maybe like confused. I remember listening to this a lot on the packed bus ride to school at 8.00, the bus would be filled with people and my legs would start to get uncomfortable after a while but i couldnt move. My whole thought process was that i knew for the next 8 hours, I was not going to have ANY fun, and I knew that for the next 2-5 years its not going to change from that. Even thought it might sound condescending, I absolutely cannot endure this type of shit grey life where im constantly exhausted and uncomfortable wherever I go. This song at the time made me forgot or numb the irritations, but now i cannot possibly listen to this song without getting sore. Online school has made me a little happier but I know that im going to go back eventually to that lifestyle, and its up to me to change that but I dont exactly have the motivation at the moment. Hopefully later I get a push and enjoy this song again..

I guess I don’t feel full happiness and I haven’t had a week of being happy like I used to. I just came across this song tonight and wanted to see what people were saying in the comments. I feel like I’ve been in a situation not too far off from what you faced. I’m hoping things go your way man, I’m personally hoping things go my way too. But as the guy above me said, it’s up to us to fit the pieces together to find happiness and fulfillment. I don’t know you either but I’ve got love for you and really hope we both see a happy future

この音楽のおかげで、僕ら完全夢の中。 It's a pun with "bokura hanbun yume no naka" that means "we're half in a dream". With LONG SEASON, we're totally in a dream.

I am again returning to this album on KZbin. I have it and most of fishmans work on my music app (musicolet) and I listen to it frequently. Shinji sato voice and fishmans music really encapsulates life and feeling in a way no other music does for me. There is some exceptions i found but not many, if anyone has any feel free to comment them. Long season is life as much as Life is a long season, that is the sound, theme and feeling this music is.

Beautifully put, I'd love to know what music you think gives a similar feeling 🤔 I honestly can't think of much else, the song that gives me the closest feeling to this is is probably "like antennas to heaven" by godspeed you black emperor, that song and album as a whole definitely feel like a journey and makes me feel just as alive as this, though it's way more bittersweet and long season feels "all-encompassing", so to speak, in a way not many other things do

I'm new to this album and I must say that it is a game changer in my life. I appreciate the boldness that these artist achieved. I'm just sad that I didn't discover them until well after they created this beautiful piece of music.
The type of album that makes me miss the good old times in 90's Japan, even tough i'm not japanese and born in 2000's

I was 16 in 1996 and my favourite artists were Stereolab DJ Shadow. If I had heard this, it would’ve been right up there with them. It’s just a shame I never got to ,and I only get to hear it at the age of 43 28 years later! I wonder if john Peel ever played this and I just missed it..
