I think they call it a "herringbone braid" like the fishbones inside after the flesh is removed. That is the kind of braid I use in my daughters hair only I just part her hair into two sections and pull very small sections from the outside edges over and in with the other side and just keep doing that. It look really pretty too....Love your videos.

Good Day. I live in NJ, USA. I found your channel yesterday. You do beautiful work, very talented. You make it look so easy and you seem to be an awesome teacher. Thank you for showing how to do these things. My daughter came home from a dog show with a picture of a leather show lead and she asked me if I could make one. I looked at the pic and said "sure". I've been tying paracord for years, and it looked fairly simple. BUT THEN... I started to realize that leather is a whole different animal (pun intended) . The lead that she wants me to make is 2 different colors, about 3' long, (you do use feet as measurements?) and looks like it's made of leather strips with a fishtail braid. Do you have any videos on how to do this as 2 colors? I cant seem to find one on all of youtube. I have no idea how to or if leather can be joined together or does it get woven together? Any info you could send would be wonderful. Thanks again.

What length of leather would I need to make a lead of say 5 feet?
@UKSaddlerytrainingcoursesuk3 жыл бұрын
Sorry Paul. I don’t know. I tend to just cut longer than I need. It would not give me to much waste to worry about.

Thank u so much for sharing your techniques with us! Can't we cut the 4 straps with strap cutter? It's really hard to get them straight.

Yes you can use a strap cutter to cut them

Love this video very helpfull but i have a question. How would I do a clasped double end braided strap? I am wanting a clasp on each end so i can use the strap for my purses but need it to be easily removable.
@UKSaddlerytrainingcoursesuk6 жыл бұрын
Alyssa Avila I’m not sure what type clasp you mean. If you email me a couple of pictures of the ones you have seen I might be able to explain it. Sales at UKSaddlery dot com

I’m not sure where that one was. I was selling a few of my houses 3 years ago. I would imagine it was in Dunoon. The building that video was made In. I have for sale now. That’s in Dunoon

Great Video, always enjoy watching your videos for new Ideas and learning purpose :-) I would like to ask a question, how much length do you add to the leather to get to a certain length. I do know that braiding does shorten the Item so was wondering how you calculate or how much the braiding may "shrink" the all over length??
@UKSaddlerytrainingcoursesuk7 жыл бұрын
I have never measured I tend to just pick up the leather and make an item. When it is only one item it is not worth the time working it out. If I was to make a hundred then I would prob work it out to save some money
@epicleatherarts83267 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for getting back to me. I was just wondering if you had it done. So thought I ask. I think it will not be a big issue to figure it out.

Thank you so much for showing all these "little" projects that you can do with scrap leathers! I am new to leather work and knew I wanted to make something for my dog, but had no idea how to go about it. I literally just ordered some scrap veg tan leather (dirt cheap on Amazon by the way) and only have the basic tools. This is easily doable with the scrap leather and tools I do have, just to get me started and familiar with leather work. And you are right, Coronation Street (and Eastenders) is a pile of bollocks 😂😂

Kianu Collis I can't cut my nails because I ran out of expensive whisky. So if you can send the whisky to my MacArthur street address. I will be able to cut them. If not it will now be your fault they are long. 2 bottles would be better
