It depends a lot on use case and also what settings you use. We have 3 people who do a lot of loads that in our commercial size 7.8 or 8+ cubic foot resistance electric dryer would be considered medium or small loads. We use about 75-100KWh in a month with it and estimate our previous usage was somewhere over 220-300 including the washer. Because it’s brushless motor driven unlike our old washer and dryer (kept the old dryer to do 2 loads at once) the power running the washer and dryer simply to spin the drum is probably about another 500 watts saved a load combined. We have a 23 SEER heat pump so it will probably only save 2-3kw/day from air and latent heat/cold infiltration in the Florida summer and winter, but more like 1 the rest of the year. So all in all we think we’ll save around 180kwh/month probably at best, but we also got it for the convenience factor, quietness, and want to pick as much low hanging fruit as possible to get monthly electric bill as low as possible to reduce the number of solar panels needed if we got solar (for aesthetic reasons). The cycles you use have a big impact on how long it runs and how much power it uses. Samsung put the biggest heat pump of the laundry market in this thing with 5,500btu/hr. As I recall, the LG combo is 3,700btu/hr and the LG dryer is 5,100btu/hr. Samsung has the dryer to purposely dry longer most of the time to get things dryer than other heat pumps because that’s a common complaint that humidity still inside makes some clothes have a briefly-lived dampness when they come out. I use the Superspeed cycle the most and it seems to be about 1/3rd to 1/4th the kwh usage as before with the oversized washer and dryer units. The normal cycle seems to try to overestimate drying times and the AI one is more accurate than that. So many of the other modes overestimate drying time and although they run shorter than they estimate, they dry for longer than they really need to. Very happy with ours though only disappointment is the door height and the 300lb weight of it, and Samsung’s “Universal” laundry pedestal was the wrong size.

I am appreciating this series on the Samsung unit. I am also in Texas -- central region. I ended up getting the LG version of this, replacing a 12 year old washer and gas dryer set. I am five loads in and am very happy with it, but I still have my eye on this Samsung version if things start going sideways with the LG. My main concern with Samsung is a combination of service technician availability and long term reliability.

Yea i agree these are definitely also my concerns ill definitely keep things updated as much as possible as i get more stats :). I really strongly considered the LG one too but i thought the overall look fit better with the home and i liked how the lint catcher looked on teh bespoke which i think out of the 3 LG and Samsung did it right with the double filter. like ACs probably lint and gunk getting into the condenser will be the biggest thing to look out for.

Did you get an extended warranty on this? I'm hearing Samsung doesn't have a great service department if these things break down.

so you had a washer dryer combo before you got the bespoke? Nice captions :O

I realize you have not had the Samsung very long, but have you noticed any lint getting past the filter so far?

About 20 washes in and so far it looks really clean I stick the narrow part of my Vaccum in there after each wash as a just in case suck out some floating particles but I haven’t seen anything build up.

Hi William. As you admit your self in this video, you don't actually save a lot of money -- but honestly, you actually do save a massive amount of energy (you went from 41 kWh to 16 kWh. that's 39% of 41; that's over 60% energy savings. that's massive.) -- my question to you is why did you choose this combo heat pump unit over traditional washer and dryer units? You're in TX so I don't imagine you're tight on physical space for two units of washer / dryer. I do like the energy savings of heat pumps but your cleaning routine after each wash is way too much work for the average female. It's a lot of effort after each wash. I would understand it more if you did live in CA and paid 35-60 cents / kWh for electricity but at your rate of 15 cents there's no real need for a heat pump washer/dryers. I'm not against this tech. I'm just don't see a real need for your use case.

Hey there For my family we only do three loads of laundry a week or 9 days depending on the season. A athletic, regular, and towel load pretty consistently with a bedding load sprinkled in as well. We are only two with occasional guest so not a lot of loads. So it was easy for us to do it all in one. This way we could fit more storage items into the laundry room for cleaning equipment etc. we also liked if we were leaving we could throw a load in and it would dry as well if we wanted to do a load a day. Cleaning routine wise as you saw in the video was mainly to clean the lint out which for the regular between use cleaning takes about 2-3 minutes. And maitenance cleaning like rinsing the lint catchers was a 10 minute maitenance step so I would say it’s not bad all things considered. The other case for the lower energy pull would be for solar too in our case. As it’s a lower draw than an electric dryer you can play more appliances into a side panel and run off a solar inverter much more easily.

@@williamsung Very good point about 1 load in 1 machine. That really is pretty useful where you can go out and do things and come back to a dried load of laundry. With 2 units, you do have to be there to move load from washer to dryer. That is a VERY BIG PRO! Please do keep us updated on how the compressor is doing. My biggest fear with this machine or even a heat pump water heater is that the compressor goes out after a few years. That would be such a pain. But good luck and best wishes with this model.
