I'm at that stage now ... but I built my home near the portal, as that was the most important location. Then I accepted all of those mastery quests, then I did them. When you are looking at the quest list, take a peek at the lower third of the right hand side panel ... ACCEPT QUEST I made the mistake of buying the recipes first rather than the CRAFTING station upgrades ... LOL
