_Hokuto No Ken_ ( _Fist of the North Star_ ) is one of those anime/manga franchises that just CANNOT take off in North America no matter how hard licensing companies (like Sega here, for example) try. At best, we can get a _HNK_ ( _FOTNS_ ) game once every blue moon like _FOTNS: Lost Paradise_ , and, before that, _FOTNS: Ken's Rage 1_ and _2_ by Koei Tecmo.

Only DBZ, Naruto and few other anime franchises had a real chance in the western game market, and companies at the time had a stance of not even take the risk of making the first move and presenting a game that didnt have sure chances of doing well.

I played this in an arcade in mexico, so i think this type of games came in a time where everyone was more into the 3D graphics, but it is a pure gem for sure.

Best thing about this game was the fact the 7 stars was a second life bar of sorts. Once the Death Star shines, you can be instakilled at any time. All the Hokuto Hyakuretsuken finishes are instakills. ArcSys never made IKs viable in Guilty Gear but nailed a method here. Why it never got revised and used in future GG games is beyond me.

Hokuto Zankaiken aka Fist of Lingering Regret. Target has 3 sec to live before all the blood in their body explodes out. In those 3 sec they will see their lives flash by and regret all of the evil that led to this end. Kenshiro used this move initially to kill Souther but failed due to the fact his heart and meridians were inverted, a fact unknown to him at the time. Hence the ability to survive if you outlast the timer.

Let's say DBZ, HNK, Jojo, Naruto, One Piece and Bleach. Then HNK could get maybe Ken, Raoh, Toki, Rei and Mamiya.

Apparently, I upset the big, bad algumorhythm again, but I said that, off-topic, I would love for WB Games to commission Arc System Works to develop a fighting game using the _Justice League_ license and being loosely based off _Justice League Unlimited_ , with character designs and art direction being jointly made by WB and Bruce Timm, not to mention as many of the original voice actors and actresses willing to return. Basically, I want a _Marvel Vs. Capcom 2_ -style fighting game developed by ASW and using identical gameplay to what is seen in this _Hokuto No Ken_ ( _Fist of the North Star_ ) fighting game.

Hm, that sounds like it might not be a bad idea... It seems like the actual Marvel franchise is stuck to focusing on movies and advertising that side, which makes any potential new "MvC" unlikely to stop using the movie aesthetics (like MvCI), which the fans disliked. And the fact is that the world needs a "MvC replacement", and everyone is aware of that, which explains a streak of recent projects like DBFZ and the upcoming 2XKO/Project L and the upcoming Hunter x Hunter game. So maybe WB, that still cares about advertising cartoons of their superhero universe and not only movies, could have a fairly good chance by requesting Arcsys to make a "MvC-like" game that looks like the cartoons.
