Breaking the Mirror - Lyrics
Born under pressure.
Forged in the flames.
I fought through hell, every single day.
Rebuilt with purpose. Rebuilding faith.
I know my place, no I'm not afraid.
I'm letting go of my failures, erasing the anger, the demons behind my eyes. I'm letting go of the past now, done fighting my way out.
I'm breaking the mirror now.
Through my struggle I have found victory.
Through this hatred I will end the suffering.
No more doubt, no more fear, no more suffering.
You'll never kill the flame in me.
I'm letting go of my failures, erasing the anger, the demons behind my eyes. I'm letting go of the past now, done fighting my way out.
I'm breaking the mirror now.
You tried to crush my soul, you failed.
I conquered and prevailed. You'll never break me.

This song means the world to me. From a 12 year long drug addiction, an overdose, suicide attempt and just 3 years ago, cancer I've lived through hell most my life. Today I got a big ass promotion at work and some more stability and life is good. Because I never gave up. Thank you for this song.

This song is WAY underated. Finally, a metal song that doesn't focus on whining and mourning... I need music that motivates me to be stronger and fight, and I'm so sick of people making it all negative... So I love this song, and I would adore to see more. Good job FFAK!!!!

Just be glad there are still some bands producing this kind of music. Comparatively it’s a very unpopular genre, almost nonexistent, when compared to those getting hundreds of millions of views.

I love how grim Dark Skies was. For everyone complaining that this is too uplifting, keep in mind that this album will likely be a cry of victory against the issues sung about in Dark Skies. So, in that sense, the direction of this new album makes sense. Also, just because it’s uplifting does not make it generic, get a life.
@emmanuel_ej
@emmanuel_ej 4 жыл бұрын
Agreed, I love when bands build off of previous albums and continue with sort of a story that you can link back to other songs, following the themes along the way. If FFaK only released heavy hitting breakdown songs all the time, (which it seems so many people want) THAT would be kinda generic and boring.

It’s not generic because it’s uplifting, but because it’s a stereotypical sound. This is coming from a HUGE fan of FFAK. Not saying the song is bad, but it doesn’t do much for me.
@tonybenedetti7179
@tonybenedetti7179 4 жыл бұрын
oh Brucey once again that’s just probably because you prefer their older sound. And that’s perfectly fine. We’re still gonna get more classic FFAK styled songs.

Mr Str Pissed Off is one of my favorite songs ever. I hope we get more songs like that, but you can’t be upset at them for making diverse records, and you can’t say they’re going Asking Alexandria like some people are. You still have screams and breakdowns, and we all know we’ll have heavy songs like God of Fire; so nuthin to worry about.

@PuertoRicanGrinderX

@Harry McNamara "Except the power chord driven hooks that are a staple of hardcore." Except they're not, this band is using entirely metal derived riffing. Hardcore is fast/abrasive punk chords that aren't tightly played. Think Bad Brains, Youth of Today or Negative Approach. Absolutely nothing in common with that here. Suggesting this is metalcore is like suggesting Breaking Benjamin is metalcore (which this sounds just like but heavier). This is very different from metalcore, it's only SUPERFICIALLY similar to metalcore because it has melody and clean singing like 2000s melodic metalcore (which is already barely metalcore to begin in most cases). Listen to what actually matters like the actual instrumentation. Also I'd suggest comparing this to Disembodied, Earth Crisis or Integrity (actual metalcore bands). This is "arena metal" type alternative metal, not metalcore.

I discovered this band a year ago with Dark Skies, loved the album and loved the melodic aggression they delivered across the entirety of the album. You really got the sense of letting the past go, this definitely has the approach of an album about a redemption story. Much like AILD with there recent album. Solid song, pretty simple beat and chorus. Curious of how heavy the next album will be.

Here since Descendants, Not being one of those hipster types, just love to see how this band went from cool and heavy metal-core fun times with my college bros to staying with me over the years. Around the time Creation/Destruction came out, I went through a breakup, typical teenager stuff, world ending and all that lol. Creation Destruction helped me through that. The August before Slave to nothing came out, I lost one of my close friends to a car crash. Obviously the lyrics to Young & Undeserving spoke to me, helped me deal with the loss. Not long after Slave To Nothing came out, I decided I wanted to do something with my life, I wanted to pursue a career. But living with my possessive alcoholic mother was a roadblock. She wanted me to be a slave, earn money at my dead end job to pay the bills and give her an easy life. The first thing she said to me when I told her was "How will the bills get paid?", I was at least hoping for some sort of encouragement to figure it out, but none of that. A lot of Slave To Nothing's themes play on bettering yourself, A Greater Sense Of Self and The Final Thoughts of a Dying Man really pushed me to go through with what I wanted to do. I even stuck out a full year at my dead end job to save up some money to see me through my studies, taking any overtime and stupid shift I could, all with the goal of eventually bettering myself. Depression started halfway through the year, I was losing myself, but I managed to pull through. I moved in with a friend who decided to go to Uni at the same time, getting away from my mother was something I felt I needed to do. I started Uni in Sep 2016, then a month later, Deathgrip came out. Now this was the highest point of happiness in my life at the time. I was chasing a dream, and found an amazing girl who was supportive of what I was doing. More than Nameless was the one that stood out to me, thinking it spoke to me about what I'd overcome, I was lifting myself up and saving myself. Unfortunately, life has a nasty way of not going to plan... After being disowned by by my mother after a major falling out, I found it hard to keep my head in the game. I didn't have any family that I was in touch with apart from my mother and brother, but he was tangled in this brainwashing my mother tried to give me. So once I lost her, I lost him too. The depression was coming back, my partner did her best to help me through it, but she could only do so much. She was all I had, and I felt guilty having her shoulder all of this, I didn't feel like it was fair. I started to break, missing deadlines at Uni, not even going for the most part. I felt myself falling short of what I wanted to be. I started to fall deeper and deeper into this rut. It became very clear that what I was doing wasn't working. It was close to this time that I came back to Deathgrip, and More Than Nameless had a different meaning. I never thought what I was doing would end up the way it did. I decided to leave Uni, I clipped my wings as the song goes. I went back to my old job in Nov 2018, Dark Skies had been out a while before this, Engraved had already engraved itself into me emotionally, I had lost direction, was desperate for a purpose in life. I fell back once again into a depression, I felt like a failure, I felt like I had let everybody down, I let myself down. Obviously Anthem of the Defeated was the go to for this, I felt hopeless, and I needed to fix my life. I used the anger to push myself hard, I had grown fat and lazy at Uni, and going back to a labour intensive factory was breaking me, I was ridiculed for gaining weight by my coworkers, jokes to them, but painful jabs to me already emotional self. Slowly, I started to build my life back up, I lost weight, built back up the muscle I had before I left. I missed out that used alcohol and cigarettes as vices while I was going through all this, but yeah, they be bad lol. Got some savings together, moved into a place with my gf, and popped the question, We're currently very happily engaged, planning to marry in the next 5 years. I built bridges with my brother, who had seen my mother for who she is and broke away from her, he is happy with his partner right now, and building his own life with her. I have quit smoking since new year and managed to stick to it even through this crazy year, I'm back working at the factory, which helps give me a sense of normality I quit drinking 3 weeks ago and have not touched a drop since, unless you count Non Alcoholic, I use them the same way I used gum for smoking I guess you could say I climbed the Tower of Pain ;) (I use humour to help deal with serious subjects) My life is currently the best it's ever been, and I had realised I'd not listened to FFAK for a while, and remembered they released new music. In comes this track. Now, if you have read all this so far, then one, well done, it's a lot lol. Two, I finally feel like I have let go of the failures in my life, let go of the past that tries to haunt me, I don;t speak to my mother at all, but my brother is here for me, just as I'm here for him. Life tried to crush my soul, it failed I conquered and prevailed Life will never break me No more doubt, no more fear

A lot of bands are friends and they get inspired and influenced off of each others ideas.

I just hate it when people refuse to listen to a band anymore because they changed up their sound. I absolutely love trivium and I love the fact that every album is different

Logan edom Some people make me laugh. They haven’t sold out. They still have screams and instruments but just more cleans. There’s no synth or pop influence. I just think some are scared of them changing their sound. This is amazing. No question.
