The reactions are priceless from exotic owners ;)

The 4G63t is such a fun motor to work and drive with. That's why the Evo IX will always be my favourite. Without a doubt, an Evo is an awesome car, yet really demanding in care and service. Owned my 05 evo 8 for over a year now and I haven't touched it from stock yet. Would I like to do stuff to it, sure, but right now it's great the way it is. Only issue I have is other people either they want to race, don't believe it's stock, ask me to light up my tires like they don't know what AWD is, or 2-step every stop light. It gets old but driving it will never not bring a smile to my face.
@felixf52115 жыл бұрын
That's smart. If you eventually decide to uncork the motor, you'll need the following: a boost controller, a turbo back exhaust, the diverter valve from the IX, a fuel pump, and a tune. The quality of the tune is cruicial. Done fight, the car runs better than stock. Good luck.

I've owned 4 Evo's over the years that I was fortunate enough to be able to buy new my first one was a 2003 evo 8 I had a 2006 Evo 9 I had a 2006 Evo 9 Mr and I had a 2012 Evo 10 GSR. In those days I bought and sold cars allot. Learn from my mistakes and don't do that. out of the four that I did have the one I kept the longest was my Evo 9 Mr I had that one for a five and a half years it was mildly modified made 340 all wheel horsepower and I daily drove it like that for over 5 years and never had a problem I ended up selling it 5 and 1/2 years later for what I paid for it new and it is the one car out of all the ones I've had that I miss the most. the only downside to owning an EVO was the police interaction I got pulled over by the police quite often for no reason at all. It usually would go something like this... "oh we got reports of a car that matches this description street racing"... Which was a lie but I would get that alot and after awhile it just gets old. additionally I would always get people that would get right on my rear end of my car as I drove it trying to get me to go faster all the time because they wanted to see me gun it or race them and after a while that gets old... so they are great cars would love to get another one.... but at this point in my life I just don't want the drama that kind of comes with them... it's unfortunate because they are a great cars👍

I will buy an Exo X. The reason I will buy it is because Mitsubishi isn't building another rally car, so I will own a piece of history. Also, I will never have to think "Damn, I wish I could afford this new one that just went on sale." There will not be anything like it in the future. I sometimes compared it to buying a Nissan 300ZX Twin Turbo rather than a 350Z or 370Z, since Nissan never wanted to make a turbo Z car after the end of the 300ZXTT. 1:55 Yeah, sometimes we do get screwed. However, I have seen a few situations where the USA got something better. Japan has a car tax based on engine size, and that often encouraged the use of smaller engines. When Datsun 240Z went on sale in the USA, it had a 2.4L SOHC inline 6. In Japan, the base version called the S30 Fairlady went on sale, the basic one had a 2.0L SOHC inline 6 or it had an insanely expensive 2.0L DOHC 6 which doubled the price of the car. The 1985 Nissan Maxima was a piece of crap and was sold in the USA with a 3.0L NA V6 that was crammed in the engine bay. It rapidly scorched many parts to death sue to that problem. However, in order to have the same horsepower and a competitive price in Japan, they crammed a 2.0L V6 turbo engine that must have scorched everything twice as fast. 2:30 In addition, they were featured in video games. 3:10 The 1995-1999 Eclipse also had a 4G63T, and there wall all kinds of jokes about "crankwalk." I think the Evo eventually solved the problem. 3:10 Since the 4B11T wasn't trouble prone, I never had a negative opinion about it. 4:10 Do remember that they take premium unleaded. Also, the 4G63T is affected by 91 octane gasoline, it is best to live where 93 octane exists. 7:35 It tends to happen where there is road salt. Also, some companies do make rebuild kits. However, that doesn't make me hate that the Nissan Silvia got completely nerfed for sale in the USA, and certain versions of the GT-R never arrived. Anyway, there is an option if people who feel the Evo or WRX is too hardcore, they can look into getting a Volkswagen Golf R. The suspension is less stiff, the interior is a little more refined, and delivery of turbo boost is less sudden. The Golf R32 used an NA engine, and that may be preferable to some drivers. I'm not sure how repair costs compare to a Mitsubishi or Subaru. Typically when someone discusses reliability and ease of repair of Japanese cars, they are pointing to Honda or Toyota.

I gotta say that was all pretty awesome except for the bit about Evo owners looking down on RA and Lancer owners. Not to be a negative Nancy, and maybe it's because my previous car was an 05 RA, but I am always happy to wave and acknowledge any other Lancer on the road. Owning an Evo doesn't make me better than them, I just got lucky with a good job and found my dream car in good shape for a reasonable price. I wave to Subies, too! Most of the time, the drivers are happy to wave back. Gotta keep the love in the community, regardless of what you drive.

I own an EB evo ix and an 05 white sti. I love both cars. I will never sell either car. I have had both cars for 10 years. They are a classic style which will go down as classics. I’m rebuilding the sti right now hoping to make around 750 hp. Can’t wait to unleash that monster. But my evo ix is my baby. They are becoming very rare. You do not see them on the street any more. I believe they will be worth a lot of money one day. If any one wants an evo and can find a clean evo ix, get it while you still can.

I am looking out for a Evo 1 in my country which has no Jdm culture at all and these cars are very rare here... even if i buy the car ima just store it and drive it on days i feel like until i have money to restore and build it back up. We just don’t like lancers that claim being evos, I don’t wear no snap back and no shades lmao but I respect people’s builds, but talking from an evo owners perspective, yeah it’s a trigger seeing a lancer with an evo wing lol.
@EduardoReyes-up6zo5 жыл бұрын
Jesus Pulido “a lancer with an evo wing” 😂 dude an evo is a lancer, I totally get your point I mean you paid a lot more for it, it’s badass & it’s probably our goal (almost all lancer owners) to modify it like an evo or better but evos are literally well modified lancers. If I was to put the badge & the mods on mine, they are identical. The hat & the shades was just a little side joke 😂😂 it’s all love man i want me a badass evo one day. Peace ✌🏽
@_Jesus1221_5 жыл бұрын
Eduardo Reyes yeah I guess lol, I mean a lancer evolution is more than just an upgraded lancer lol, different engine platform and trans and suspension all round, even the body panels are different. But yeah bro all love, it would be my goal too to have an evo once day and make a lancer more like an evo but I would never flex having an evo if I only had a lancer, I would never talk shit to another evo driver if I drove a lancer and I definitely wouldn’t be walking around and posting that I drive an evo when I didn’t if I had a lancer. I don’t mind lancer drivers at all, I have a few buddies who have them. It just bothers me when lancer drivers take it a step forward and flex having an evo or talk shit when they only have a lancer, speaking for evo drivers lol that pisses us off, but if you have a lancer and are humble, and not a poser, we should have no problem w you. We all had dreams of having an evo at some point, so all love bro!

4:31 So, the Mitsubishi Emo? I'd still get an Evo 9 RS for track work, as the turn-in was SO much better than you could get with similar time frame WRX/STi models. I spent a lot of time fiddling with my 2004 WRX and drove a few STis at events, and the turn-in was so annoying.
